Mine still bounce, but I have one of the earlier kits. Got worse over time.

The new development is that my trucks issues with water, according to Toyota are because of these lights. Apparently the lighting harness gets wet and it puts the truck into limp mode. To where it won't even idle right. It causes the fuel injection circuit codes to pop and the fuel rail pressure code to pop.

Not sure if I believe Toyota, anyone else have an issue?

So I confirmed, this light kit is the cause of my trucks no start and no idle issues.

I've contacted the company to ask some questions. Apparently when it gets exposed to water it screws up and causes the truck to go into limp mode

I was just checking in on this thread to see if the bounce was fixed and I find this. Ugh. Can you clarify how you confirmed that?

Well for one the dealer "confirmed" it. So I decided to try it out myself. When you wash the truck with these installed it spazzed out, wouldn't run etc. Unplug them, and it runs.

Put the factory lights in, and I even directly sprayed the factory stuff with a pressure washer, no issues.

I did find a melted wire inside one of the XC led drivers for the high beams.

The HID harness appears to be mostly tight. The backs of the plugs could allow water in, I filled them with silicone and will be sealing off every. The ballasts have a rubber sealant filling them up, I doubt the ballasts are the issue.

Bummer well I just installed the XB LED fogs and put the Morimoto 2Strokes in for my low beams...hopefully they hold up and we don't start experiencing stuff like this.

Can anyone tell me if you can adjust the XB LED fogs from underneath? Do I have to pull the grill off again to adjust the fog level or has anyone been able to adjust from somewhere underneath? I'm pretty sure mine are set very low...I should have adjusted them before putting everything back together. :smack:

I had good luck reaching down from the top through the space next to the headlight assembly. I used a stubby philips head screwdriver to make the adjustment.

A stubby will allow you to adjust the fogs of you're able to reach down there.

Still waiting to hear something more helpful from trs. Been sending pictures back and forth.

I will be trying out the stubby to see if I can adjust them. I'm still trying to determine if they are actually to low...you can just barely see the light line when driving so they may be good to go. I had actually ordered the HID Elites and did return to sender after reading so many ups and downs on them...the 2strokes were straight forward no battery connection super small power box...probably not as bright as HID but they kill the stock halogens so I am very happy with them.

Not knocking Retrofitsource in ANY way they were great with the return process but I ended up ordering the 2strokes and XB's from DistantXtremes...they were only $261 shipped which beat EVERYONE else by $60-70.

I agree here! I put the opt7 LED bulbs in my low beams and the signs light up great but as far as seeing the road it seems more difficult. Then the other night it was raining and I had them on and might as well been driving with just my DRL's. After this experience been contemplating the move to HID but I do t want to shell out a bunch of cash and not gain a whole lot of visibility from it. Can I get some opinions on the matter of LED vs HID?! Thanks!

From what I have been reading over the last couple weeks the HID will have more throw vs the LEDS and be a little brighter...sounds like the Morimoto Elite HID set is what most of the Tacoma owners are going with. You will have to search the threads there is a lot of stuff on TW about LED vs HID.

I had LEDs in an open reflector housing in my Ranger the spread was great but distance and noticeable light at dawn/dusk wasn't the greatest. Signs lit up, and the road paint glowed.

The HIDs in the projector housings are more controlled and have a greater distance, but the LEDs were more simple, less power draw, instant on and off, and pretty stable, except the cooling fan packed with mud and salt. (Cheap Chinese Amazon)

I would definitely not out hids in high beams as they require a warm up. I currently have LEDs in my high beams, one again great throw to the edge of the road, but you don't get that piercing beam like you do halogens.

Led technology is definitely getting there, and I feel if I had them in a projector at a 43-4500K they'd be great.
Those 2 strokes clock in at 5000lm each, that's impressive. Technically brighter than HIDs.

Is everyone getting the bounce or is it hit or miss? Probably just going to roll the dice and if they bounce return them... assuming returns are accepted.

It has been completely random. I can tell you that I had the bounce. I returned the kit to them. I think it cost me 35-40 bucks to send it back. I replaced them with a less expensive kit from Xenon Depot. I still have the bounce though it is not as bad. This leads me to believe that the problem is with the truck not the kit. Of those of us that have had the bounce some can deal with it and others it drives completely insane. The led kits seem to not bounce but do not throw the light out far enough and the stock bulbs just plane suck. This is where I am stuck right now.

Yeah I went back and read the whole thread in the mean time.. seems to me it's likely the issue is with the actual headlight housings.. perhaps the projector is jiggling a bit and it's just far more noticeable with bright HIDs than with the stock halogens or LEDs.

So without switching back to the halogens to confirm for myself can anyone with the stock halogens confirm that their headlights flash when locking the truck? My turn signals and side mirror lights still flash with the LED 2strokes..Im thinking my headlights never flashed with the halogens.
