I own a 2017 and it had the 2016 firmware on the ECM...and it was a 1/2 quart low in transmission fluid which was also suppose to be fixed for 2017. ECM has been flashed under the TSB and transmission fluid added by dealer. It fixed my delayed R to D issue and I picked up 3 mpg to boot (from 15.5 mpg pre-flash to 18.5 mpg post flash).

Here is the report the service dept gave me for a 2017 TRD Sport 4x2 regarding TSB 0077-16. My point of contact over there said that this truck didn't need the flash. So....is he telling the truth?

If the truck wasn't built in early August it's likely that it doesn't need it.

Thanks Matt. I have a 2017 or also. I plugged my LCA but I still get a faint howling sound from the rear. It has to be the diff. I don't have any shifting problems yet. I think I am going to what you did during my 5000 check up. I am going to have the dealer note the issue with the diff and wait for Toyota to come out with a solution. Some people have already had their diff replace and they say the problem got worse

I have the same transmission calibration number on my 17 (Aug 24 TX build) which matches the TSB release, so it appears to be updated. No issues with it yet.

I just got the TSB performed on mine and the calibration number they wrote down on the sticker is "8966304B0200", which is not what is shown in the picture @AZTruckin posted. I'm thinking that is the old number which means you probably don't have the TSB performed.

Sbpark I know you're bitter about the truck but I had the TSB and am not having other problems. I looked at an Outback for the wife but she wanted a 4Runner, which has also been great.

You mentioned in another thread you're not upset, but you seem to have joined this one to provide just a troll comment. I'm sorry you had a bad experience, but there's plenty of good stuff to find on TW, such as the camping threads, to see what's out there.

I'm sure you have a hateful comment for me, I really don't have one for you. I hope you enjoy the Subaru, I think it's a solid car.

ridonculous that the new ones still have the issue. Although, it does give you some quality time at the dealership service dept to get the update done.

No hateful comment here. If you don't like what I have to say just ignore my posts. Plain and simple. You guys keep replying to my posts, simple as that. Stop replying and fueling the fire. It's just so easy to rile you guys up. I mean, seriously, the 2017's are still having the same issues? Really?!?!?!?!

If Toyota sucks so bad, why to hell did you buy a 4Runner? Ya that made Toyota feel it. You spent more money and left a Tacoma that some one else is going to gobble up. Win Win for Yota

I gotta check mine. It doesnt seem to be hesitant between P an D and weird shifts too often, but I suppose often enough to get it "fixed." Thanks!

8966304B0200 is the calibration for the Main ECM (listed as Engine on the Health Check printout)
I'm assuming 896650401200 is the calibration for the Sub ECM (transmission)
I think we have the same release of the software. Only one way to find out....drag race?:mudding:

Good point. I didn't catch that the Main (Engine) calibration number was the same as what was written on mine. So you're probably right, we do have the same software. That's interesting that yours came built with the TSB implemented. Is your Vin listed in the VDS numbers?
