o Same thing here a few weeks ago. I couldn't believe they didn't jump at the opportunity to make an easy future sale. I mean the product would not be on their floor even one day. Just take my $, run the paperwork and make a profit (I was looking for $600 over invoice and even willing to accept $800 in options I was not really looking for (Hard to resist those $200 floor mats right?!)
oo My company, yes they want sales today too, but in a similar situation they would be pretty bitter if I made almost no attempt to close on an easy future sale...

o Well after stalling me 15 minutes they said they would try to order me one...
oo No guarantee or estimate when it would come in (meh, I get it, but at least tell me something like 8 weeks)
oo Needed $500 down (ok no problem)
oo Full MSPR +$599 dealer fee (wtf?)

I'm just going to wait it out until Black Friday sale or maybe last week of Dec when hopefully the market cools off. Then do an internet sales blitz within ~500 miles of home.

Mine is supposed to be built 10/28 and delivered 11/18. I placed my order at the end of July.

My dealer has been awesome. They had to get the allocation which took a little longer than expected. They kept referring to my truck as the unicorn truck. I also tried to leverage the..."Now you have this allocation for next year.." stance while negotiating. I'm not sure if it helped but I am happy with my deal.

Give us the details on your order! Anything special besides it being a LB?

Not sure who you are referring to; but mine is a TRD Offroad, 4x4, double cab, long bed, inferno, tech w/ JBL. I have been trying to get some updates, but so far I have just been told "
    it is on hold"
My truck was already allocated when I ordered it - so it isn't a custom order per se.

It came in last Wednesday. I ordered it at the beginning of August and was surprised it didn't take a little longer to arrive. Not sure how to find the actual build date.

Your build date and place of manufacture will be listed on a sticker as you open the driver side door

Good taste! thats the exact same one I am ordering! I wonder if it is the JBL holding things up. JBL seems to be the hardest to get around here

Just got a call from my dealer. Apparently my call to Toyota corporate yesterday where I filed a case got some attention.... I was told by dealer that less than 30 of the TRD Off-road 4x4 Double Cab Long Beds were issued to AZ (all colors/options). Dealer/regional is pushing for a build date. Also interesting to learn that Baja Mexico plant will deliver from build to dealer in 3-5 days whereas Texas plant takes 2-3 weeks.

It was built on 08/16 in San Antonio. 2017 TRD Sport DCLB 4X4 with tow, tech/JBL and nothing else....no tint, floor mats or any other overpriced add on.

Ordered truck (TRD OR 4x4 DC LB) in early August after I was informed they had a truck on "allocated status" and it would be here in early September.
10/3/16 Update from dealer: Build date shows as Nov. 1st.
    Not a great experience.

My order is a Quicksand TRD OR DC LB with premium and tech/ JBL, factory tonneau, power locking tailgate and a few other add ons.

When I got my allocation confirmed they said mine was one of 6 for Florida.

What kind of pricing did you guys get for this supposed "unicorn" of tacomas? Were you still able to get close to invoice?

They are going to tell you whatever you need to hear to sell you something they have on the lot. They are scum bags and need to be left to rot without a sale

I guess timing is every thing. I had several dealers tell me that the truck I want was a unicorn 2016 LB OR 4x4 PT/JBL Tow pack.

I gave up looking for one back in February Then I heard through TW that Toyota was taking orders for 2017 starting the last week in June. I got on the internet first week in July and went through my credit union and the set me up with several dealers in my area. One of them contacted me and ask me what I was looking for and I told him a 2017 OR long bed. He told me to come in the next day. I went in on July 5th and discuss the truck. He told me he was ordering 2017 allocations and that he was getting 13 2017 tacos. I watched him type my order in and it took only 15 minutes. He called me three days later and told me the truck will be built on August 6 and should be here around the 3rd week in August. The truck showed up at the dealership August 22. It was a fairly easy process for me. I guess the right timing played a role
