I'm looking at installing led strips under the hood for engine bay lighting. I have picked out some led strips on Amazon, but am curious if anyone has done this already and if so what switch they used? I would prefer the light to just come on when I open the hood so was thinking about an out of level sensor switch (like a mercury switch) or a push switch that can be mounted somewhere that the hood would engage the switch when closed. I am also not opposed to mounting a switch somewhere under the hood to manually turn them on. Just curious what you guys have done?

This is what you need right here, used one like this for my hood lights. I'll post some pictures of my setup!

Out of curiosity, how did you wire it? Where did you run the wires for your light? Did you come down the hood and past the drivers side hinge for a path? And I'm kinda of confused looking at this switch. Only one wire? I thought it would have a 12v in, 12v out, and a ground? How does it tie in to your system?

Or am I retarded? I just thought that maybe this is the grounding point? Is that the idea? Switch closes, grounds the circuit, lights come on?

Did it the other night. Works great. It's a ground switch. Run your negative line to it. Breaks the circuit with hood closed.when you open the ground makes contact and light comes on
