I have the Firestones and I absolutely love them. Hands down the best A/T tire I have had. I bought mine on fleabay for WAY less than the price you posted. Shop around.

Steve is right on both counts, the Generals are noisier, and either way you will upgrade nicely.

BTW Steve, cool dog in the back of the DC!!

Nothing compares to a good ol' BFG, they are tried and true. Also the most durably tire out there problably. Not to mention they are made from a solid carcass and they normally balance much better than cheaper tires.

I have the Destination A/T. They do well offroad, but I still have traction problems occasionally. They suck in the mud.....long story. but they do good in the snow. I went wheeling with a taco that had BFG KM2's and i kept up fine.

road noise is minimal.....i actually can never hear it over the sound of the wind. i've had them for about 7 months and they're doing good

I called up Pepboys and these tires in a 285/75/16 are only $750, that includes mounting, balancing and road hazard warranty:) Plus they have a 40,000 mile tread warranty and it's buy 3 get the 4th free with a mail in rebate :yay:

Just to help qualify my original answer, I do have both Grabber's and F-stone AT's on my trucks.... The Grabber is a better tire, and comes with a 70K warranty (at least it did when I bought them)...

Lots of folks love the gear they have, but have not had the opportunity to compare head to head... just like I do not have any personal experience with the BFG's.. kind of wish I did, but could never afford them.

The General Grabbers are aggressive, great warranty, and outperform the Firestone's...I know because I have both brands.... Cleveland gets a decent amount of snow, so I can speak for the winter performance of those brands...

Again...both will be a nice upgrade over OE...

..anyone else have finish problems with their wheels??? Mine started flaking, and peeling about 12 months in.. .and dealer would not stand behind.... I will wait until they get too bad, and just refinish myself.. but cranks me off that the finish couldn't outlast the loan.

    Thanks in advance!!!!

I'm going to be looking for tires in a little while myself, so have been looking at everything I can find. If you go with ConsumerReports, the General A/T's are the worst, the Revo's rate about 3rd or 4th. If you go by TireRack, the General's are still below top 5, I think maybe 6 or 7th place. TireTack rate's the Firestone's higher, CR rates the Pirelli Scorpion the highest. I don't know how I'm going to make a decision, so many contradictions.

I don't go by internet ratings. I go by the fact that I had BFG TA KO's and they were supposed to be among the best. And in my opinion, the General Grabber AT2's are a much better tire. Given they are cheaper makes the deal even sweeter.
