I have narrowed down my lift kit search to 2 options...just need some help deciding and pulling a trigger. This is my first truck and first lift that I will purchase so very little knowledge here...

Toytec Boss 2.0 (AAL option) w/ remote resi's:
    BOSS.jpg

    OME 2" ARB Lift Kit:
    OME.jpg

I am leaning towards the ToyTec option because I can add the additional 1" lift and get the 3" overall that I have been wanting but considering the OME lift as I have heard good things and the price looks better.

    2 questions I NEED answered:

    1. How important are the remote reservoir addition? I plan on heading out to an off road course on occasions, but very rarely (once/twice a year).
    2. Will you notice a significant height difference between the 3" ToyTec and 2" OME?

New rear leafpack over AAL every day

    1. Not needed unless you run high speed washboards type stuff

    2. 2-3" may mean new UCA or not.

All the research I have done, new UCA's are not needed for 2-3". When you go above that they are. I will definitely be adding new UCA's just to perfect alignment down the road, but want to get the lift complete. What are the advantages to having a new rear leaf-pack vs AAL.

Have had the boss system on my FJ for awhile, with Light Racing UCA's. Fantastic product and does incredibly well off and on road.

I had a AAL before the new pack and the AAL rode like shit. It sagged and rode so rough; rougher than a new pack. Get the pack, you will thank me later..

Not needed at 2. 50% needed at 2.5. Needed at 3.

An AAL is fine if you're on a budget, but a leaf pack is best. The OEM leafs are shit quality, consider an AAL to be a cheap bandaid - you'll need new packs at some point.

If i wanted a TRD PRO suspension, I would have purchased the PRO. I bought the OR for the additional features it came with going into it knowing I would swap suspension...

Anyone have pictures of their Tacoma with the OME kit installed?

As soon as you get a GoFundMe for the additional $1700, let me know. Not looking to invest a fortune at this time.

In that case, I vote for the OME.

I'm on OME but second gen. 2.5/2.75 front and rear.

    Full OME. Coils, shocks, Dakars.

I second that. I wheel a lot in Colorado, primarily to get myself to good fly fishing spots.

I have the Boss setup and really like it, but I have a hard time noticing a difference between my setup and friends OME setups for 90% of driving. I have around $2.6k tied up in mine and it is certainly better on washboard stuff, but $1200 better? I don't think so. The lift you order is expensive, and it doesn't include alignment or any surprises you encounter along the way.

You want the complete truth? The FJ and Tacoma got me anywhere I wanted to go, stock. The lift makes it easier, and I can go a little bit faster, but now that I'm doing it all over again with a new Tacoma...

I plan to stick with the stock TRD OR suspension and put on a decent set of tires and aluminum skids. I'd recommend saving the money and use it to get outside on more trips.

    More like $700.

    But agree.

My setup is just shy of $1300 and on stock UCAs.

With the LR UCA's, New Alignment Cam Bolts (half the time they are seized), Welded Cam Tabs, alignment, labor, etc. the lift ended up costing far more than I noted for purchase price of the basic list. The frustrating part is that for most wheeling, I'd recommend all of those mods to ensure you get there and back safely.

Where I was going with this is that I'd go with a very mild OME setup, or stay stock and get decent tires. The difference (for me) if I had gone with a 2" OME setup would have been a savings of $1200-1400 for the FJ.

Bigger tires, increased lift angles, and severe duty on the components is all a ton of fun and looks awesome - but if you're getting a lift to "get you out there more" my advice is find out what these Toyotas will do stock with a good set of tires. It will blow you away.

I also would never recommend to go cheap on a lift. These trucks cost way too much money to end up not having a comfortable ride.

Or, you can piece it together.

    Dakar leaf packs: $400
    SPC light racing UCAs: $500
ICON Rear shocks (no reservoir): $300
ICON 2.5" Front shocks (no reservoir): $1,200

    Total: $2,400

Give or take a couple hundred dollars.

Newbie here. Will a 2" lift (such as OME) void Toyota's warranty? Would Toyota install the mods?

No and probably for triple what a shop would charge you. Get some buddies together and it could only cost you some pizzas and beer!
