Anyone cover bedracks with netting?

I am in the market for either a bed rack or a soft top. I like the idea of the bed racks, and all of the options for mounting things on them, but I also want to be able to throw my dogs in the bed and not have to worry about them jumping out.

So has anyone wrapped there bed rack in netting? I was thinking of using snaps like you see on some boat covers to attach some larger military style netting over it, Think it would look pretty cool and be very functional but haven't seen anyone else do it, so maybe there is an issue?

Either the thick military stuff or just some black "fish net" type netting secured to the rails with velcro straps.

    Any other ideas or input?

Most use the soft top for dust and element protection, mesh won't do that.

Seems like it'd work great if keeping dogs in is the main need.

Velcro and fish netting doesn't seem like the best idea. I could see a nylon strap net similar to the OEM cargo net, just bigger and more skookum.

Had to look up skookum, lol... Softopper is definitely my next option, I just thought some people with racks would have done this by now, seems like it would be nice for quick load ups where your kind of throwing stuff back there, or even dump runs etc.. Nylon strap netting would be good if I could get it to kind of form fit over the rack.

The OEM cargo net is pretty tits.

If you essentially made it bigger and used metal hardware, it could totally work great.

Tie down points are adjustable so you can tighten it down and fit whatever form you need. I'm sure you could find a similar cargo net that's much bigger from mil surplus, then trim it down to the size you need. Add some adjustment straps so you can tighten and loosen it and you're set.

I was about to put my cargo net up for sale.

You gave me the idea of using it on my roof rack.

    Keeping it now.

    I wish I kept mine.

When I have the need again I'll likely just go buy a few rolls of heavy duty nylon webbing and roll my own.

Not the same but similar. IMG_9462.jpgI made some netting Windows from camo netting on my softopper for my dog so he doesn't get totally battered by wind and dust after going hunting or just playing in water in general

I got some "Velcro zip ties" from Walmart and wrapped it around the topper support. I held it up and cut to fit for each window

I found a guy on here who did that in his build thread, or something similar at least. Let me try and find it again.

Thats perfect, Im glad other people have had similar ideas, I couldn't find anything. Seems like it will work great with some thick netting. Thank you!

I want to see this with 1.5" nylon webbing like the OEM cargo net.

Could be used as MOLLE attachment points also.
