Toyota is a manufacturer. Dealers are privately owned and only affiliated with Toyota via sales contract.

They'll install, but you will spend 4x more than what a regular shop would charge.

Warranties can be voided. Mod at your own risk!

As I just ordered the OME kit for my new truck, thats what i recommend. If you go with the Boss I would suggest a block in the back as several people seem to have problems with the add a leaf.

I've had nothing but problems with AAL's in the past. I'll never go that route again.

I was dead set on the Boss until hearing everyone's opinions. Looking at the poll, OME seems the route to go. Anyone have some coupon codes to get that price down more? CHEAP A$$ MOTHERF***R here...

Lift will only void warranty on select components that they can directly link to failure due to the lift. Example: My lift and 33"s voided my front CV Joints when one failed 35k after I put the lift on. I tried to get it covered under warranty knowing I likely caused it. They were able to show the increased driveline angles from my lift and stress from my tires voided it. I took it to another dealership though and they did cover it under warranty and didn't make a fuss about the lift. They just wanted the work and were less worried about Toyota Corporate.

*Reason # 123124153 that I would recommend leaving a truck you are not wheeling hard and often stock. If you damage a cv, jam a skid into something, knock it out of alignment, etc. on a stock truck (with stock size tires), nearly any Toyota dealership will clammer at the opportunity to fix it under warranty. I know plenty of guys out here with stock Tacoma's that have gotten shock mounts, CV's, tie rod ends, lower control arms, etc. replaced due to abuse when wheeling - as long as you're under the bumper to bumper platinum warranty.

I wheel almost every weekend and do multi-day trips with a whole lot of different makes and models of vehicles. The stock Toys with good tires and solid recovery gear can handle nearly everything thrown at them.

    $1k is a cheap lift for a $35k truck.

yea but it's the OME lift everyone has selected. Trust me, I know there are better options out there (ICON, Fox, etc.) As often as this truck will be off road, I cannot justify a $2000+ setup at this time. I have had rifles that I spent $2500-$3000 on in the past and I realized I spent so much money on a rifle that I could never fully use it to its full potential. I had a rifle that could shoot 1 mile easily, but no 1 mile ranges within 4 hours of where I live. Thus I couldn't justify the cost as I couldn't use it to its full potential...same outlook on the lift...

My favorite is the $200 kit buyers complaining how expensive it is to lift your truck..

Thanks for the insights on lift & warranty. I used add-a-leaf on my old Tacoma ('01) and it was nasty bouncy in all situations if empty. Okay with heavy load, but who wants to carry rocks around?
