I'd also check firing pin return, and length (too long).

If it's doubleing either the FP isn't floating correctly (which the light strikes would support) or the disconnect isn't working correctly.

Check out an animation of how the fire control group works, and strip/clean the BCG.

    Good luck,
    AE

Trigger pin could also be loose, seen a few reports of a sloppy trigger pin causing bursts/full auto.

What ammo are you using? Some ammo is known for hard primers, split neck could be either faulty casing or a bad chamber.

Ammo was wide variety, some xm855, wolf Poly, Colt nickle case, federal 55 grain.
Ill prolly pick up some anti rotation pins, new disconnect spring, make sure hammer spring is good, re align gas block just to be sure

I had an AR do bursts once. Turns out one of the trigger pins was loose and had sunk into the receiver, so the disconnect wasnt correctly latching on to the trigger after each shot. Could also be an out of spec receiver where the hole for the disconnect and trigger pins are a tad too far apart.

Definitely sounds like hammer follow. On one of my first builds I didn't catch the disconnector with the trigger pin. It was just floating in the trigger slot. Caused similar-sounding issues.

To check disconnector issues, remove the mag, unload the gun, cycle the charging handle, pull the trigger and keep it pulled, then cycle the handle again with the trigger pulled. You should be able to release the trigger (you'll hear a click as the trigger resets) and then pull it again and dry fire the gun. If that second pull doesn't release the hammer and dry fire the gun, you've probably put something together incorrectly.

Finally going to start building one
Of my own since I have larger expenditures left for the truck. So this way I can save up a few hundred bucks and buy some parts a few at a time.

I was able to replicate my hammer follow by separating the lower from the upper and, while keeping your left thumb on the hammer so it doesnt slam into the bolt catch, pull the trigger and keep the trigger pulled. Using your left thumb, guide the hammer slowly until it contacts the bolt catch, then pull the hammer back with your thumb. Now repeat except instead of keep the trigger pulled all the way back, let it forward a little bit. Keep doing until the trigger is completely depressed before pulling the hammer back. At one of those trigger positions, my disconnect wasn't working.

Better to ask what I have not done.
Allright im itching to build another upper. I have a 223 and 300bo already so i dont think i need another one of those two(yet)

What ahould be the next upper be chambered in? Down to these three.

6.5 grendal For long range (have a leupold mark 4 that needs a home)

458 socom for the fact that i can say i have one and i can use as a bear/dinosaur gun

22lr for plinking and what not

I reload so cost of rounds dont really matter to much.

Another long range/precision cartridge that fits an AR15 receiver/mag. Supposed to be a bit better than 6.5
