Each credit card company has different rules. Search Visa (or whatever) merchant guide.
    From Visa:
    Unsigned Cards
While checking card security features, you should also make sure that the card is signed. An unsigned
card is considered invalid and should not be accepted. If a customer gives you an unsigned card, the
    following steps must be taken:
    • Check the cardholder’s ID. Ask the cardholder for some form of official government identification,
such as a driver’s license or passport. Where permissible by law, the ID serial number and expiration
date should be written on the sales receipt before you complete the transaction.
    • Ask the customer to sign the card. The card should be signed within your full view, and the signature
checked against the customer’s signature on the ID. A refusal to sign means the card is still invalid and
    cannot be accepted.
    • Ask the customer for a different signed Visa card.
The words “Not Valid Without Signature” appear above, below, or beside the signature panel on all Visa cards.
    “See ID”
Some customers write “See ID” or “Ask for ID” in the signature panel, thinking that this is a deterrent
against fraud or forgery; that is, if their signature is not on the card, a fraudster will not be able to forge it.
In reality, criminals often don’t take the time to practice signatures. They use cards as quickly as possible
after a theft and prior to the accounts being blocked. They are actually counting on you not to look at the
back of the card and compare signatures; they may even have access to counterfeit identification with a
    signature in their own handwriting.
In this situation, follow recommended steps listed above under Unsigned Cards.
    Requesting Cardholder ID
When should you ask a cardholder for an official government ID? Although Visa Rules do not preclude
merchants from asking for cardholder ID except in the specific circumstances discussed in this guide,
merchants cannot make an ID a condition of acceptance. Therefore, merchants cannot as part of their
regular card acceptance procedures refuse to complete a purchase transaction because a cardholder
refuses to provide ID. It is important that merchants understand that the requesting of a cardholder ID
does not change the merchant’s liability for chargebacks. However, it can slow down a sale and annoy
the customer. In some cases, it may even deter the use of the Visa card and result in the loss of a potential
sale. Visa believes merchants should not ask for ID as part of their regular card acceptance procedures.
Laws in several countries also make it illegal for merchants to write a cardholder’s personal information,
such as an address or phone number, on a sales receipt. If you are suspicious, follow recommended steps
    listed above under Unsigned Cards.

I'm not a fan of trophy hunting either but I know a biologist issues the permit on behalf of that countries hunting and game code. It takes an old or unhealthy animal out of the wild. That money paid for the permit goes into wildlife conservation in those countries. Again I see the purpose I just think it's not fun to have a guide drive you around and say "hey look there's the old as rhino or lion we have selected for you to kill". That's not hunting.

Maybe we should ask the indigenous people who aren't at the top of the food chain how they feel about having a nocturnal predator removed from the region.

They should just issue permits to shoot the poachers.

Uh, so back to our regularly scheduled WTF thread :)

Check out this Merc convertible with a cone wrapped around the front wheel. Cone has no doubt been there a while..go figure how the owner cant figure out WTF is coming from the front axle. I figure single girl, always getting in on driver side, never sees it but doesn't give a fuck.

So having the same thing said in Latin is better? (basically what Latin biological names are...)
Signatures on checks, credit card slips, contracts, passports, etc. by necessity have to be unique and difficult to duplicate by other people. Nothing like the cursive handwriting they teach in schools.
