Are you sure the popping is internal to the rack?

 

Maybe lower ball joint popping ?

F@$k it...my knees and back make popping noises everyday....still going strong

 

I asked because I've had popping when I turn the wheel when stationary for quite some time.

On mine the popping isn't internal to the rack. I have the poly bushings but the rack still moves enough when I turn the wheel when stopped. It causes what sounds like a random popping noise, but isn't really. It is the bottom bolt on the large u-shaped bracket on the rack. That mount still flexes enough to cause two points of metal contacting each other, to shift position.

 

These images are in my head every time I drive my truck. Every freeway, every speed bump....fuck these lbj

That i couldnt answer. Might have to get under and see whats going on...makes the noise while stationary too

Doubt its those. But i will be doing them when i do the rack just to be safe. Lol. Top ones too

I know the bushings are shot. So this may actually be my problem then. Funny thing is, when i had my skids off, i couldnt hear the popping noise. Or maybe i wasnt paying attention

 

Yep, going OEM this fall on mine.

No. OEM only.

 

Running a rack that's shitting the bed could cause the pump to go, ask me how I know.

that was not supposed to been taken care with the recall already ?

By the way , I'm back on tacoma double cab, they did this ball joint recall on mine before I take it out of dealership, that and the spare tire holder check for corrosion.

Problem is that its a non failsafe design. Ball joints wear out no matter what ones you use. Only real way of preventing this is frequent front end checks.
