Title pretty much says it all. Have an 03 with 2.7L, accelerating under load it bucks and heaves and cuts out, but NO trouble code is thrown.

Full disclosure: This truck has needed an engine for 2 years now, cracked head and/or leaking head gasket. Engine has still always run well. In the past it has thrown codes relating to the coolant getting into the cylinders, the usual P300x codes when the plugs are wet with coolant and won't fire. But NO codes now.

I did manage to capture 100 frames of live data while it was stumbling down the road, but I'll be danged if I can figure out what any of it means.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions... BTW mileage is well over 160K

Lol, might be time to do the head gasket and/or replace the head after driving it with those things needing replacement for two years. I'd be counting my lucky stars that I was able to run it for two years with those caliber of problems, if I were you.

You are 100 percent correct, sir. We NEVER expected it to keep going this long, it was decided two years ago that it just wasn't worth fixing because it needs too much other stuff as well.

The funny thing is that this problem does not seem related to the head issue. A huge loss of compression on one or more cylinders would result in misfires and throw codes, no?

No codes at all makes me wonder if the ECU brain-box is bad, or some other major electrical failure.

New Data Factoid: It didn't rain here at all for 3 months, then we got a deluge. This began immediately after...

Yeah you would think you'd get some type of MIL codes but I've been surprised to see the amount of folks here on the forum that get some pretty heavy symptoms of something malfunctioning and their ECU doesn't turn on the MIL either. So it's tough to say, but it'll be even tougher to try and track it down with the known bad head/head gasket.
I guess you could check the simple things that don't require money just time. Plugs, coil packs, etc.

Could be a bad/flaky cam or crank sensor, or maybe a bad relay cutting out.

Running the engine this long with coolant seeping into the cylinders surely will have eroded the block surface, so just replacing the head and head gasket won't work. The block surface would need to be check and possibly resurfaced, so yeah, maybe a whole new/used engine is a better option.
