That and the bed speakers seem pretty cool. There is room in the rear quarter panels of of the truck to put a cooler contraption in the Tacoma. But Toyota couldn't even provide a gas cap holder on this thing, so I dont that's going in.

You know, no one is even talking about the speakers/exciters on the RL forum. They are not available on all the trim levels, I think its only the top two, maybe three. Either way, it doesn't even seem to be anything to talk about.

Part of the reason I drive a truck is because of its utility. The Ridgeline won't do what I need it to do for me. Neither will the DCSB.... only the AC long bed works for my purposes. BUT...I admit it... part of the reason I drive a Tacoma is that it is a more "truck-looking" truck and I like the feeling that it can take me places the Ridgeline can't even if i don't often go there. I see no issue in driving something partly because of how it makes you feel, or thinking of your truck as an expression of your masculinity, or achievement, or whatever.

However, when you think that what you (or someone else) drives DEFINES your masculinity...makes me think you are compensating for something.

I like the last line of their summary:

"Yes, the Tacoma does a lot of things well, but based on our time behind the wheel, you have to really want to overlook a lot of things it does marginally."

I think I am one of those people who will more than likely always drive a taco if possible. I feel bad for many of the unfortunate with the later 3rd gens that have had issues such as yourself because at a minimum you guys should be Toyota's top priority. They have to be aware that the 16 and 17 folks are still the guinea pigs of the newest gen like the 05 and 06 guys were of the second gen. Its totally understandable to turn away from Toyota as they have turned their back on you.

I think one thing that scares me about ever leaving the 2nd gen group (I love my truck anyway) is the possibility of getting so pissed at a Tacoma that my ignorant love for it might fade. Its funny that people have given you crap for your decision to move on with a Subaru as I don't think there is any other car manufacturer that has proven abilities like a Subaru does. I know if I ever got a car I would be looking at a Subaru as well. I guess the real question is, think you might ever own a taco again? Appreciate your perspective, although it is sad to know Toyota isn't looking out for the new tacos.

But the Ridgeline wasn't screaming the engine at 5000RPM the whole way up either.

Yes, after they were forced to slow down to 40mph, then accelerate back up to 60. Most trucks pulling their max load wouldn't have made it back up to speed anywhere near that fast.:burnrubber:

I bet the RL would look better with a shell on it. Maybe not.

Might want to rethink that. Yes it's rated higher, but towing 1200 less than it's max, it struggled to maintain 60mph the whole way up. And it was running at +5k RPM pretty much the whole way, leading to it's low subjective score. The only reason it was quicker than the Ridgeline was because the Ridgeline got stuck behind a semi. The testers even admitted it would have been a sub 8 minute run.
I would bet the Ridgeline would pull better at 5600lbs, it's a shame Honda stuck with the 5000lb rating.
