First, I was drinking when I wrote that. Second, of course not, I'm going to assume women will mainly be purchasing the ridgeline anyways.

When I bought my Truck I didn't test drive other trucks to decide which truck I would buy depending on 0-60 times.

The most amazing thing about this thread is that people actually care about how fast their trucks are...It's a truck.

It's a truck, I didn't buy a truck to go fast. There are only rare exceptions where trucks go fast. That being said...

    1. If you are going to "drag race" at least do it right so we have something of a yard stick for comparison. 0-60 mph, 1/8th mile, 1/4 mile.... make the test worthwhile.

    2. Trucks are slow.... except the farm truck.

    3. Where were the twins? I kinda think they would have beat the britches off of those three when using the gas burners. Though, weight might have been a factor.... I don't really know, but they should have been there.

    4. Trucks are slow.... except the farm truck.

    5. All these trucks have more guts than most of the older trucks... so the thread title really isn't correct.

    6. Trucks are slow.... except the farm truck.

    7. The Taco has plenty of power.... you just have to push the gas a little more.

    8. Farm Truck!!!!

The Tacoma is by far the best looking truck out of the both of them. I don't care how "slow" or "gutless" they are, I don't regret getting it. I love my Tacoma!

I'm glad the Honda is faster you won't have to look at it for long. Trucks should be tested for a mile up a 10% grade and measure the frustration level and not speed. Now it's time to put the Honda on the gauntlet test and see how it does. I hope the Honda proves out to be better it will only force Toyota to step up its game. I chose a 2016 Tacoma because it's the truck I wanted. Speed means nothing I live outside of Los Angeles there's no place for speed around here. I like the TFL tests there as close to real people as I have seen. Everyone has a bias in some sort of way. Keeping it in check is the hard part. It's going to be real interesting in the midsize truck market for the next 5 years.

The Frontier, Ridgeline, and GM Twins are all good products for their uses - and the Tacoma isn't without faults or its own issues. It's great that these guys put together a hole shot video for those that may base their purchase decision on acceleration and speed. It doesn't have to be the same review that YOU use to base your decision on. We all have different uses and needs from a vehicle. All these guys are doing is tests that they are able to run, with vehicles they have access to, in the safest places that they can get permission to run tests. It's not a perfect system and it isn't meant to hurt anyones feelings.

If you want a fast truck on the road, there is a vehicle for that. If you want to run up and down trails and deal with a more truck-like on road manners there is a vehicle for that. I test drove the Ridgeline, Frontier, and the canyon, and I can say they are all excellent vehicles for their purposes.

The Tacoma happens to be the best fit for ME, but I could care less what other truck owners want. The long range and Manual Transmission are what I wanted for mountain driving, and the Toyota 4x4 system with diff lock and A-Trac are all features that have suited me very well over the years.

Why do people on TW care so much about putting down the other makes/models? It doesn't make you any happier with your own truck, and it doesn't do anything but highlight a whole other set of issues. Do I think a guy is less of a man because he drives a Honda? Of course not. The measure of a man isn't what he drives. Thats some insecure child-like thinking and should have been left behind a long time ago.

Thank you sir! Unfortunately some of the man-child fanboys probably don't understand what you wrote and can't get past high school.

If you go around taking every post seriously in the 3rd Gen section, you're going to have a bad time.

I for sure don't drag mine on the strip but I am disappointed in the torque. Do you guys know something I can do to increase the torque? Is there a power chip available? If so, would it void my warranty?

Someone else here mentioned ECT mode. I would give that a shot. Programmers, piggybacking chips, etc. would void your warranty if a problem results from install or use.

Another, more expensive option would be re-gearing.

Perhaps it is just me, but coming from an '83 22R 4x2 pickup ... and still owning a '94 4x4 22RE ... "slow" is a pretty acceptable trait for a Toyota pickup in general.

I'm not even looking at the 3.5L Taco to replace my '94 ... because it's a Toyota truck not a Raptor. Perhaps one day they will take aim at a more high performance Tacoma, but for now it seems like they are turning back to their roots. Well, minus the whole dependability part for the 3.5L, but I'm confident this will be worked out over time. I blame CAFE Standards more than Toyota for this direction. A corporation is always going to cater to what generates revenue, especially if the flip side is financial penalty.

I seriously considered the ridgeline for many months, but the VCM issues turned me back to Toyota. I'd even take the 3.5L Atkinson/Otto over that Earth Dreams motor. Even with the potential of VCMuzzler II doing its job free of issue for the life of the truck.

    TL;DR - 2.7L FTW
