Just bought a 2017 Tacoma SR Utility. Dealer says they cannot install mud flaps (or door edge guards) because Toyota does not have anything that will fit. Anyone been successful at installing their own after market.

My Truck has mud flaps from Toyota. Your dealer is a liar.

Toyota mudflaps will only work if the truck has factory fender flares.

Check out autoanything.com. They have Weathertechs on there and you choose sub model with/without flare.

Correct, Toyota flaps will not work without fender flares. Both weathertec and husky offer flaps that have sub model without the flare. Personally I went with Rokblox as I they provide better coverage and are flexible.

I have the same truck and the Plasticolor mud guards are of good quality and cheap. Use the bolts holding the overfender or whatever that plastic piece in the wheel well is called. It is an easy installation. You can even find flaps with the 4WD logo if that is what you are after or use a decal from eBay.

    Do floormats count?
Is there any gaps between the wheel wells and mudflaps? If so, how are you filling them? Spacers?

I thought I remember reading in some other thread that Toyota is no longer making mud guards for the Tacoma's :notsure:

    Factory mud guards suck anyway.

There are no gaps. The over fender sits between mud flap and wheel and well and it looks flush.

Save money and get something that doesn't look like shit and isn't Stiff Molded Plastic. Plasticolor FTW
