What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Took off the black decals off the center pillar on my DC. Used the hair dryer method someone else recommended. That worked pretty good. Definitely you need to add heat or the don't really come off. That previous posted recommended IPA to get the residual adhesive off. I think acetone works better but neither is very good. It's all elbow grease really. I think I'm too lazy for this as where the stickers approach the robber molding, there's a ton of the adhesive left and I scrubbed for a long time and didn't get it all off. I work in a lab and will drive to work tomorrow and try some different solvents cause that scrubbing sucks! Anyway, love the cleaner look without the TRD sticker and those black stickers. I guess I should post a pic one of these days.

 

That looks really nice! What paint did you use? Do you think it'll hold up?

 

Well first I sanded off as much of the shiny chrome that I could. After that I did 3 coats of Krylon grey primer for plastic, then several coats of krylon satin black. It looks really good, but I say a can of rustoleum black enamel sitting on the shelf and read that it was chip resistant, so i said what the heck and put two coats of that on it. I really hope it holds up. My next road trip to MT in a few weeks will be a good test.

it took about 6 or 7 weeks don't remember but it was around that time frame. Worth 100% the wait

 

are those 16" Trd rims and if so what size KO2s ...I am curious if 285/70/16s fit on with no rubbing

Thanks, it just fit. Had to let a little air out of the rear tires to close the tailgate but that's it.

 

The wheels are from the Pro 4runner. I sold my off road wheels because I loved the Pro 4runner wheels which are 17"
