The 37 ft-lb matches the FSM, so from Toyota's perspective it's right I guess. I know the forum wisdom is higher and on the 89-95 trucks and 1st gen Tacoma the u-bolt torque was specified at 90 ft-lb. I split the difference and did 62 ft-lb, but I don't know if the 37 is an ongoing mistake or if it's right why Toyota wants it so low.

I don't know what is the correct torque. Just seen it mentioned in this thread a couple of times as being incorrect, therefore I pointed that out in the document. Same for the confusion regarding the alignment.

Dealer called me to book an appointment (replacement springs, not inspection) while I was browsing this thread...:woot:

Got mine done (Canada) on Monday. Called my dealer a couple weeks ago to get the catalytic converter recall done and he said they just got the parts in for the rear leaf recall (2 years after initial notification from Toyota that they would "eventually" call people in to get them replaced)

Have only drove on them for a few kilometers so I can't really say if there is a difference in the ride.

I finally got the call from the dealer last week, and truck is going in on friday to get the recall done. About time, since it only has been since June or so that I originally went to the dealer.

Hey, what's the recall on the catalytic converter or is that for Canada only, thanks.

Not sure if it's Canada only, 2.7l only or both. Specifically it's Limited Service Campaign S0SH-L08-1A (Catalytic Converter) for some 2010 - 2014 Tacoma's. did a google search and could not find anything.

Is an alignment part of the deal when getting the rear leafs replaced? I just got mine done and asked if the rear alignment got checked and they said it wasn't part of the fix. I'd think if you took out the leafs that the rear alignment got tweaked if not more. I'm going to go get one done anyway since it's been a while, but off the bat I noticed a lot more vibration coming from the rear over small imperfections on the road. I don't know if the new leafs are stiffer or if mine were just completely soft after 110K miles.

According to the above document, last page, step 8 indicates to perform and alignment.

Well, they just ushered me out after signing the service receipts. I never saw the service advisor that I had booked the appt with. I know this is whole thing is free on a 11 year old truck but still pisses me off since they're going to get paid by corporate if they were supposed to do one.

Take it back and show them that it says an alignment is part of the deal. Nice but persistent.

I thought the rear alignment was fixed and not adjustable only the front...

This, mine went straight to the alignment rack after the install. It's part of the deal.

I thought the 37lbs sounded pretty limp wristed myself, but that's what the Chilton manual says too. I haven't found anything that says it's wrong yet. It just doesn't sound right.

No way under the sun that it is 37 ft lbs. I cranked mine up to 90 ft lbs as soon as drove it home after reading here at TW.

I wonder why they set it so low, if it's supposed to be, or why in 12 years it's never been corrected. Because I 100% agree, it sure seems wrong.

If that's the case, for the price they get, they could have stuck an addendum or done a correction to the FSM. Wonder if the electronic ones have it right, mine are paper copies. Makes me start wondering how many other mistakes exist in them. There are shitload of pages so the potential is very high.
