Yes I have seen his truck and it is absolutely amazing. He has put lots of money into that truck to say the least and it is a lrime example of what i would eventually want. Essentially what i want is to have the rear end down alittle bit more so I dont have so much extension on the front coilovers (which seems to be about a solid inch above the collar). I dont know exactly how much the bumper weighs but i do know that it is the steel version and not the aluminum one. Let me get a rear end pic for you so that you can see what leaf springs are under it and what i can possibly change, if you need a clearer pic let me know. Im just trying to make my truck perform great off road as I do travel up north alot and I do like to take my truck hunting where I use it to 4x4 and get to certain places that are quite sketchy at times. And i just checked and included a picture of the front coil springs and they seem to be 600lb....should I have them changed to 700lb with the bumper I am running? I certainly appreciate your input and any help/advice you can throw my way to better build this truck.

@goblue82 what length and rate of spring you use on your kings with that pretty front bumper you have?

@Solution.45 also check into the oc thread and wheelers anonymous thread too. We b.s. A lot about this stuff since you are a socal guy.

Id get a heavier spring rate with that plate bumper. It will help with the sag in the front with all that weight from the bumper. Then you can take some of that preload off the coilover.

I can't quote right either on my phone today.

Thanks man. I think you might be happy with a 14" 700 @Solution.45

If you add stuff like skids and winch later down the road the 700 will keep working.

I didn't look through this whole thread again to see if anyone mentioned this, but maybe you should measure your truck to see how much lift is actually dialed into the front and rear before you start changing things? I don't know what the specs are, as I'm a first gen guy, but there are specs in the FSM that tell you what the height of the lower control arm pivot bolt on the frame is supposed to be relative to the center of the hub and there's a spec stating what the height of the front leaf spring bolt is supposed to be relative to the center of the rear hub as well. Knowing this info will help us to tell you what you should/shouldn't/can/can't do.

Okay i see what you are saying. Correct me if im reading the picture wrong but mine are 600# 14" springs..... and when i bought the truck they were already preloaded to alomost double what yours are. And im am running 35" tires. Maybe i might need to do the same thing...

Is your plate bumper steel? If so I would go 700lb spring for sure. If it's aluminum and you won't be adding skids and a winch etc then a 650 would be sufficient. However those 35's are lifting you up a good bit as well. I think that 700 will be a solid choice for ya.

Can't really tell but seems to sit pretty level from the pic you posted...

If you really can't stand it then swap the coils and adjust, then alignment.

But if your going LT soonish then I would just wait because your going to have to get new shocks for that anyways:notsure:

Yes I definitely need to do that. I came from a 07 tacoma that just had a 3"spacer in front and stock rear, so all this suspension stuff is relatively new to me. To me its almost like dialing my DH bike suspension when I bought it. I had to switch out my front forks spring because it was to soft and had to switch out the rear spring as well and adjust my high/low speed comlression and rebound to get things finally to where i needed it. It took me a good 2 weeks of riding and testing to finally get things dialed to my height, weight and riding style.

Yes I plan on going LT at the end of the year or so. And when i do that what shocks are required or go with LT? Whats the difference between the ones on there now and new ones for an LT kit?

I suggest you poke around the LT thread, you'll learn a TON from there but here's a rundown.

The shocks on there now are oem/ext travel oem which basically means they bolt up to your stock shock locations and provide a better ride quality.

With LT, you would be getting a new uca, lca, (fabricated spindle in some cases), new cv axles, extended brake lines, and probably some other smalls I'm forgetting. Depending what kit you decide on is going to determine what size coilover you need in the front... tons to learn about LT

Okay i see, i have been reading into LT kits and there is alot that i was unaware of. No wonder they cost so much and there numerous companies that make LT kits and picking one would also be a factor. Ill do my research and talk to buddies that have LT and see what their opinions are. Thanks again man

You were reading my mind just now. What would something like this cost to fabricate? Just off hand estimate....
