It's more the Ford or GM brand that's not very compelling... :D

I only hope you're right. I just finished a 20 year run with 2 Z-71 Silverado 1500s. Both trucks took me to hell and back for 200K miles, and never left me stranded or spent the night in a shop.

    So do I. :D

We recently retired a 2002 camry at 240k miles after my daughter needed about another foot to stop and tented the hood, as well as a 2002 4runner at 170k miles that remained perfectly reliable and ran great, but was 4x2 and I'm needing 4x4 now. We have a rav4 that's been rock solid for 50k. Others in the family have had issues with Fords, but mostly they simply didn't offer what I wanted. My GM experience was a Saturn SC2 that threw a rod at 85k miles and was basically falling apart by the time it was ten years old.

Get financing through credit unions. But ultimately it all depends on credit score and term. I am at 1.7 for 60 months - more flexibility - and the rate was the same as a 12 month. Didn't increase until 72 months.
