Actually around here it's quite common. If the roof is leaking then it's going to cost the insurance more by not paying for it for interior damage. They paid for this one twice in a 5 year period. The metal was the 3rd roof on this house since we moved here in 99. I didn't know until I called them and asked. Roof had hail damage on it.

 

So what exactly did you tell your insurance company? Pretty sure mine would tell me take a hike.

 

Actually had a really bad hail.storm in my area.

Asked them if they cover a roof because neighbor had told me they covered theirs. They said they would send someone out to inspect it. He advised the roof had hail damage on it and it would be covered. We hadn't had hail in probably a year or two. Got three estimates and turned them in. Received check.
