If you want to be able to use this: http://www.kbvoodoo.com/shop/toyota-tacoma-bed-rack-fits-years-2005-2016

...with your factory tonneau cover, I can make a mounting clip that will allow that.

BUT, you will not be able to open the cover.

    Still interested?

That works out good. You save cash, and I'll get them designed.

I'm thinking the clips that let it work with the tonneau will be like an extra $50.

I'm out here in the driveway looking at it right now, flashlight in one hand, beer in the other.

That's how it'll get installed as well.
Check out back rack for ideas they do a system that allows a headache rack that sits over the top of the tonneau at the front of the bed. And I have absolutely no plans on opening the trifold seeing as the only reason I open it now is to put the paddle boards hanging 6 ft out the back giving me heart burn the 5 min it takes to get to the beach.

I bought my trifold for the simple reason of securing my hunting gear and being able to accessing to very easily. And to throw dead Hunting game back there. If theres a way to get that bed rack to work with the trifold I do not mind spending the money.

I'll make it so it will work with any trifold (especially mine), you just won't be able to fold the cover open. Shouldn't be a problem, I think most people just open the tailgate and chuck things in there.

Between the flashlight and the beer, I already have it designed in my head, just gotta turn it into steel now.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Steel is REAL.

And I would assume I could still open the cover?

@KB Voodoo would it be easier to make your bed rail caps with an attachment for the rack system?

A new bolt here, a new bolt there, a new bolt everywhere.
Interesting... I will keep an eye on here I am also looking for a rack that will fit with the factory tonneau cover. Preferably allow me to at least fold the first section back.

    Do floormats count?
This, plus a cab height, or slightly higher rack for canoes, that will work with the factory tri-fold? Or even just the rack tall enough to carry a canoe with no bike option would be awesome!

I agree with @perpetualenigma3 I'd love a rack, but really need to open that first section of the tri-fold. For my application (at least) I have no need for enough weight load to support a RTT.
