I've been talking with a local company (Affordable Solar) but also talking with Consolidated Solar Technologies. I want to get rid of my three panels to just one large panel.

You might just have to call him. They are coming with the extended summit series tents.

ooooh keep me posted! I just want to run one as well, or at least one that still fits the footprint of the Plano, and then maybe folds open to double in size.

I'll let you guys know. I'm gonna send them another e-mail today. But I'll let you know. Maybe I'll try to put together a little GB depending on what the company says.

Looking for a little input from those who have a Tepui Kukenam or other soft RTT. Do you think you could easily set up and take down the tent with only one hand? Can you get the zipper started after the cover is off? I only have use of one arm and the hard RTT looks awesome for ease, but when they're 3x the price, I have to look seriously at the softs.

    Thanks in advance!!

I have the tepui ayer and I think the only trouble you may have is with the zipper on the cover and maybe getting the fabric for the overhangs connected to the metal poles. Its doable but probably a bit frustrating. A hardshell RTT might be the best option for you though might be out of your budget.

'doable, but frustrating" The story of my life for the last 20 years!! LOL. Thanks a bunch for the input!

I' m currently working with Tim @ Free Spirit on the GB. He's currently looking at a different ladder for me. One that is easier to operate with one hand. Pushing both buttons at the same time seems to be the biggest challenge. I could buy the hard shell, but then my winch and bumper $$ go out the window! :)

i thought about that similar design using a clip for flashlights from mc master carr

wouldn't that support rod going to the outside of the annex cover be inside the tent material, then the top clip would only be on the outside of the tent material just under the rain fly? so how would you clip to both bare tent poles? Tepui could have a different design where both poles are inside and able to be utilized in this scenario

Is it on the bed or? Try this. If you have room this is a great way. DIY.

Did a practice run of opening and closing the tent. Opened in 9:30. Closed in 14 minutes. Want to get to six and ten. Also put the dog up inside for the first time. He loved it. At first. Got freaked out when I tried to get him down and jumped six and a half feet onto the driveway and ate shit. He's tough/an idiot though and it didn't even faze him. He still wanted to get back up so we did it a couple more times and got the technique down for carrying him out.

Question for @Cascadia Tents . Should the straps that run across the top of the tent that act like supports be taut, or is it ok if they have a little slack? When the tent is open and both floors are aligned (completely flat) I have about an inch of slack in each section. Also the "U" shaped bar that holds the overhang open has two plastic plugs in the ends that need to be removed to fit onto the mounting posts. Is there any reason I shouldn't just leave them off so I don't have to remove them every time?

I count on this joint coming apart after a few rough miles. this is after I replaced the OEM nylock nut with a new nylock nut, did not help. I am probably the only RTT owner that this happens to. At least the nut does not drop onto the roadway. I just hand tighten this nut every time I open or close the tent, and it will hold for 20 miles of rough road. IMG_3196.jpg
