So I went to the dealer to look into this rattle I have on my 08 regular cab an was advised there is a TSB on shocks which they will replace later on in the week following receipt of the part/s
Has anyone else noticed a rattle?? This could be the reason.

I haven’t noticed a rattle on my 08 regular cab. I’ll have to tune my ears a little more closely next time I drive it. Was this a constant rattle or something that occurred when hitting a big bump?

Robbie does the noise sound like a high pitched squeak when you go over bumps especially on gravel or dirt roads? If so can you get me the tsb number so I can call toyota. Let me know thanks

My truck has a rattle that seems to be coming from the rear. I usually
notice it at low speeds going over a speed bump or something similar.
I first thought maybe the spare was loose but it appears to be snug. I
figured I'd ask the dealer about it when I take it in for the first oil change.
Is it just a single rattle, like a metallic thud, going over a bump?

I will try and get the TSB number when I go back, Dealer said in the middle of the week.
    I have a 4 x 4.
The rattle seems to come from under the cab. To me, it sounds like a metal rattle, like a loose cable hitting something metal. Not so much as a single thud. It happens when driving over a rough paved road with small minor bumps. No so much with a speed bump, which I go over at a slow rate of speed.
I don't think the service tech heard it...but they did spend time looking. They test drove the truck. I was at the dealer almost and hour and a half before the service manager came to me with the key and advised me of the TSB.
Funny, when with my wife I say to her. "Hey did you hear that?" "What?" she replies...so, it can't be too noticeable. She reminds me my '87 Nissan made a lot of noise...it did. "It's a truck!" she says. "Yes, dear." lol

If anyone is still following this thread...it's Friday night. The middle of the week has come and gone and no call from the dealer. Hummmm. I guess I have to call "them" or just wait it out and see what happens.
    The game begins...

Yeah you better call them. That is how it was when they replaced my front deffective struts. I want the tsb number so I can consult with my dealer. I have a noise when I go over rough gravel roads and they can't hear it until I took them to hear it and they still didn't fix it.

"There's no TSB. That was a miss communication." said the service guy when I called. Yes, they said they'd call the middle of last week, but I guess they forgot.
Headed in for a 3;30pm app't for installation of the shocks today which kinda surprised me for the speedy service.
Hoping this will solve the rattle.
MISS COMMUNICATION! George Orwell words if ya' ask me. It never happened, your mistaken.

sounds like a bunch of crap. Now I hear a creaking from the back when I am standing in the truck but only on one side. I'm tired of dealing with toyota over this crap

    getting there....
hey man, try this.....it may or may not work. wash the rear springs pretty good and let them dry, then get a dry moly lube and spray inbetween the leafs, if it stops the creaking, you may need to put new pads between the leafs, or they may need some grease packed in them......just a thought.

I went for a local drive on a very bumpy road with my rear slider open and there was a hell of a racket. However, I determined it was coming from my toolbox not the truck itself. Then when I got home I was jumping up and down in the bed and I could hear a little creaking coming from somewhere. However it is so minor I can’t imagine it would be a problem. If this was a Cadillac I’d be pissed but since it’s a truck I’ll let it go.

Well, they replaced the front shocks, test drove the truck then passed it back to me. I must say it was rattle free. Kinda...the rattle was gone but: "What was that? was that it?" I admit I'm a bit spooked when I heard anything. Then it began to rain and I closed the window and didn't hear a thing.
Tomorrow, I am taking my wife shopping...erghh! So I'll listen..a good excuse to prohibit that damn Barry Manilow cd!

In reality, there is no excuse required to prohibit Barry manilow.......

Yeah you're right I am just a little aggrevated with noises from the truck cause I have a annoying noise from the front and when I took it to the dealer they gave me the run-a-round(told me they were gonna fix something then they weren't then they were etc.) so I need to chill with the noises. I mean I live on a bad dirt road and I haul wood, cinder blocks, sand, furniture etc. and I only have 10,000 miles on it. Maybe the suspension is just breaking in :p

Well, I have been driving the truck for several days, minus the Barry Manilow cd and all is well. The dealer replaced the front shocks ad advised nothing is loose under the truck.
It's quiet, and I have a smile on my face. New shocks. Cool. Now, what did I do with my Iron Butterfly cd?????
    Safe roads to all.

apparently. truck sounds solid when i go over rough roads. it did surprise me that they didn't do all four, the repair sheet did state the service tech heard a rattle in the front. guess, they did what they had to do.
