Compared to an older truck, the 3rd Gen is more like a car interior and front clip built onto the pickup frame. The 6-speed manual is sweet, though, if you can find one on the model you want.

Around here there are no decent deals on a used Taco.... or any 4X4 for that matter.

As far as AT or MT, I might would buy a MT if I didn't live where traffic can be an issue. Really though, I don't think there is anything wrong with the AT. It's just a little different than what most people are used to.

Found the same to be true here as well.

I'd been watching for a while. I've found that while there are a fair number of recent-model, moderate mileage Tacomas available at any given time, once I filtered for 4x4 V6 there were few to be found. Want an Offroad model? Good luck.

For example, looking at Carmax just now (just since they're easily filtered) I see 56 Tacomas available within a 250 mile radius. Filter for 4WD V6 under 40,000 miles and I'm left with 2 to choose from; a 2014 SR5 DCSB with 36k miles for $30,000 or a 2014 Sport DCSB with 35k miles for $31,000. Offroad trim to get the rear locker? Found two units by expanding to a 500 mile search radius. A 2015 with 2000 miles for $35,000 and a 2015 with 24,000 miles for $32,000.

Since I tend to keep vehicles a while it made more sense to spend a bit more on a new 2017 and get exactly what I wanted.

Agreed, though with the caveat that I've had it for just a couple days now. Drives a lot like my old 4runner. Doesn't drive like my 3-series BMW. Big surprise.

I drove MT for many years before moving here, and Atlanta traffic spoiled it. Driving a MT car became more of a chore than a thing of enjoyment.

You'll have to go out of state for the OR.

Tons of them here in the mountain states - like 50% of dealer inventory.
