You gotta have your good tight core with your deep breath in. No need for a belt ever. The guys at the Games in 09 had to tabata style deadlift for 15 stations IIRC and the last one I believe was 505. Quite a few dudes hit it and just held it there. Fucking beasts

Here is his 230lb snatch. I dont know how the hell he does it but he makes it look so damn easy. It makes me feel super weak. I was hoping he had a video of the deal lift but couldnt find it. http://www.vimeo.com/8684814

cant deadlift 500+ by doing crossfit alone. not possible in my book.crossfits mainly cardio with some weights. usually relatively light weights. with some being moderate. dont get me wrong crossfit is a great cardio and overall health routine, but if your trying to move serious weight its not possible. the more cardio you do, the more your body needs to burn something for fuel. since muscle is readily available during long cardio routines your body will tend to burn that first. causing you to lose muscle mass causing you to lose strength. previous posters have already stated this. not trying to dog on anyone or anything. i think its great when people get off their butts and get out there and do whatever it is that makes them healthy and happy. some choose crossfit, some choose other exercises. i just happen to choose powerlifting and bodybuilding. happy and healthy should be everyones goal.

The guy in the videos does nothing but crossfit. Now obviously a 110lb guy isnt going to walk in and bust out a 505 DL after doing it for a month.

I have got some big bastards at my crossfit gym. I'm pretty sure one of them was in the movie 300 or at least he looks like he should have been.

Sorry i just dont believe it. Unless this guy is one something or has freak genetics its not gonna happen. Crossfits basis is moderate weight high repitition. Thats not gonna get you big or strong. It takes time of pounding away at low rep heavy as hell weight using different methods. Block bench, utilizing bands to breakthrough plateus etc. You cant just throw a kettle bell around and then dead 505. No chance.

Even still the guys in the movie 300 got ripped by using various forms of crossfit. That's part of what got me interested in it.

Granted crossfit people aren't going to be as strong as power lifters. But they are definitely some of the most physically in shape people you will ever come accross. It's never been a dream of mine to be able to lift thousands of pounds. And it's like you said, whatever you do to stay healthy is up to you. Plus anything is better than what the majority of americans are doing.

^ That def helps him, but Crossfit, when paired with a Starting Strength routine before a WOD that usually only lasts 6-10 min works wonders. Doing nothing but crossfit and no supps (for a year, previous numbers were BB routine), my squat went from a 315 1/4 squat to a 365 ass to ground and my deadlift went from 315 to a 395 5rep max and 425 1rep max. Crossfit does work when programmed right and also the type of diet plays a large factor. Crossfit football is also programmed to put size on an athlete.

didnt know that. so thats where his strong power base is coming from. and yes your right. youll get lean and ripped and the 300 guys did use various forms of crossfit with other training mixed in. and like i said..nt everyone has to wanna lift like i do. im just glad that people are out there having fun and taking care of themselves. thats something that we as a country need to change. so i support anyone doing anything to better their health no matter what method you use.

At our gym we will start the class off by doing, for an example, 7x1 working your way up to your 1 rep max of Clean. Or we might do 5x3 working your way up to 3 rep max. I know that not anyone is going to be able to lift a whole lot, I will always be that guy, but I have already seen a lot of improvements. And another reason why you wont see a lot of high weights is because crossfit focuses more on form then they do weight. Now I am not saying other programs use horrible form or you in particular have horrible form, but if we screw up form or do something wrong, then our rep is scratched and doesnt count.

same with the guys i train with. it can be absolutely brutal. we do lifts like bench with different height blocks till we complete full range of motion, and on lifts like deads and squats, if we dont use proper form not only will we not be able to complete the lift, well blow something out as well.

I just wanna say that I never meant any disrespect to anyone following crossfit. We all have different goals and are using different methods to achieve those goals. sometimes i can get very "passionate" about the way my friends and I lift. So sorry if anyone felt any disrespect and just keep at it. And for those who might read this and dont do anything, hopefully now youll get some motivation to get out there and start moving.

No biggy, I didnt take any disrespect or anything.... YOU BASTARD JK :D Like you said, we all have different goals. I get very passionate about crossfit too because of how many lives I have seen it change, but any exercise will change lives, I know. I just love crossfit because we all push eachother, and I never have been a big free weight type of guy, I just dont get as motivated. BTW 2,000 post :D:woot:
