I just purchased a Cali Raised light bar and am planing on using the MicTuning in dash switch and wiring it so it lights up with the rest of the dash by tapping into something that gets power only when the ignition is on.

I've been doing a little bit of research and the best way to go about this without stripping factory wires (which I'd like to avoid), is an add-a-circuit connector. This is my first question...what type of fuses are in the in-cab box and which add-a-circuit size do I need? Second question...will the fuse box cover fit back on with an add-a-circuit sticking out? And finally...would the switch work without powering the LED at all if i decide to wire into the dash power down the road?

    Thanks!

The 2016 Tacoma's all use low profile fuses in the cab. But I would recommend being cautious with the add a circuit. How much power does your new light draw? The add a circuits are only good to 10 amps at 12v. I would say that might need more. Take a look at it, but seriously consider running a new power line and a relay hooked into the ignition.

Where is the best place to tap a relay into the ignition?

I placed my aux fuse panel in the engine bay, and I tapped the ignition fuse from the engine bay fuse box. Worked great. Did a thread on it too, I'll see if I can find a link if your curious.

So are you just trying to light up the switch with the headlights on, and not power the light bar with power from the interior fuse box? If so, than an add a circuit should be fine. The current draw from just the LED in the switch wouldn't be enough to do anything.

Yeah it would just powering the LED in the switch. I may just wire it up without powering the LED in the switch if possible, then come back later and tap the fuses if i can figure out a way to get the fuse box cover to go back on with the add a circuit.

Yea, as long as it's just the LED in the switch you're wanting power for from the in cab fuse box, you'll be good to go. I'm running in to this same thing right now with my light bar set up. When I get the new switched wired up, I'll let you know how I get it to work.
