Good morning all. It is my, well my Saturday LOL. Jealous of those of you that work 4 10's. When I'm on call and projects like we have going on now I sometimes work 7 10's and carry on. But it doesn't happen as much as it used to no complaints. Leave a week from tomorrow for a week in a cabin on the Canadian border hunting ruffies with the dog. Trying to pre pack and finish up a few things on the truck and around the house. Leaves are starting to drop, must be fall. One of the wettest seasons ever but no rain today so have to take advantage of it outside as much as I can. Have a great day at work or not!

Bob forgot to mention earlier really like your new Avatar! Better than a gator freighter but not quite up there with a tin can :p Although I was on 2 bird farms took the Coral Sea around the world in 83 and was in the Gulf during Desert Shield\Storm on the USS America. Ships crew on all the ships had nicknames for the ships of course: Coral Shitter, Rockin Robbie, Jolly Jason, Happy Hemorrhoid. Except the USS America that is a name you just don't mess with.

    Morning Everyone !!!

Going to be warm today with triple digit temps possibly above 105 degrees also strong Santa Ana winds . Last night about 0430 the winds were very strong and coming out of the north . The side of my building felt like it was taking a beating . Think wind gusts were above 60mph and woke me up fast

Today depending on the weather start getting my Camaro ready for next weekend's fun

A guy posted this link in another thread. I decided to ask our daughter, that is a PhD student in biology research, if there is anything to it. She quickly sent a reply. She gets fired up about stuff like this. Here's the link followed by her reply.

    http://www.aol.com/article/news/201...erin-brockovich-carcinogen-in-their/21478030/

Nope, just standard media fear mongering. If you go to the study most of those samples were untreated water which would be treated before making it to the tap. There is some in the water supply, but it's just the amount that you would expect since it's a naturally occurring compound. The doses that cause cancer in those rodent studies are basically the equivalent of making a human drink 10 liters of soda every day for 2 weeks and being surprised when they get fat. At high enough doses pretty much anything will cause cancer!

If you ever do worry about the tap water though, a Brita filter (as long as you keep them changed out regularly) will actually remove the vast majority of contaminants. Unfortunately it also removes the fluoride that is added to water during treatment for your teeth, but they work amazingly well.

The whole "this causes cancer" thing is SO common, but then when you go to the actual scientific article it's at such an insanely high dose (and also in a rodent) that it's not remotely applicable to humans.
