I purchased my first Tacoma (2016 TRD Off Road Crew Cab Long Box) a couple months ago. Has anyone noticed a rear end whine at highway speeds of 50-60 MPH? The sweet spot for mine is at 55 MPH and is extremely annoying. The dealer agrees and ordered me a 2017, however it is a long wait and I am wondering if this is an issue and if it has been reported and addressed?

This has been reported and talked about on TW. Many 2016 and 2017 owners are reporting a howling sound from the rear at 50 to 60mph The sound has been confirmed that it is coming from the rear differential and several only to find out it made the situation worse. People are reporting that Toyota is working on a solution. If your dealer is working to replace your current truck with a 2017 then I would say go for it. However there are reports that some 2017 are experiencing the same problem. I have a 2017 with just 2300 miles and I am experiencing this sound
    Good luck

I'd take the new truck ... cant hurt. If the new one does it ... get another one that doesn't. I think the odds are in favor of getting a new one without that issue.
