So after trucks been in shop for a week replacing alternator and leaf springs (never came in) and trying to figure out my hesitation I get the call yesterday it's ready!!

Tells me the hesitation was replicate able and it was bad! They were told a couple things to do (bunch of gibberish) and it's better and comparable to others sitting on lot. Go pick it up, truck starts great in front of service manager, thumbs up. Drive home and park it. Get back in an hour later for a test drive and I get "click" won't start...... "click" "click" barely starts... Go for drive and hesitation is far better yes, but STILL there..

Bring it home , turn it off, and on "click" "click" get under truck with hammer while gf starts it. Bang on starter and it fires up 1st try!! So now my starter is bad!?!! Plus the engine light is on now. FUCK,!!!!!!!
Starter won't trip the engine light so what fuck could that be now.. NO sleep last night.

The quality control on these trucks is really slipping. In this case I wonder if they mucked up something with your started. Perhaps a loose cable or connector when putting stuff back together. Not sure why they'd have to mess with the starter anyway but who knows.

    Thank you and thank you.

I'm now in the wrong thread for my issues, sorry.
Just left it with them, it started perfect! Engine light was on drove it over. They turned it over fine. On and off a few times and definitely the starter. It would start fine once and the next not. Engine light is on and off like crazy and throwing NO codes
    :annoyed::annoyed:
They said I may have gotten water in the starter !???
It's literally on the bottom of the motor. I bet my Lexus would fair better after a day in the mountains...

I would say the quality control at that service location might have issues, but it's not the truck quality control.

I love this truck in and out. Trying not to be a third gen complainer. But the quality control on this particular truck has me concerned. Missing mirror clips in drivers door (it may have been window tint shop) replaced driver seat cushion for weird lump and small tear, bad rattle in door handle, replacing both leaf packs for embarrassing squeak, leak in sunroof, current tranny issue, tail light already burnt out once, now alternator and starter issue. Really hoping the starter was some how related to the alternator swap... Not my luck tho.

Holy I sound like a bitch...

I logged in for this reason. My truck struggles to shift gears and when it finally does it tries really hard to shift back. I hate it because I finally found a truck I really like the inside and out.

Thanks, I sure will! Although it's really strange, it hasn't done it once after I got it back from the dealer (only a few days but still). Wonder if they tinkered with something without telling me.

Damn man mine does the same..... I get a clunk when coming to a stop in cold starts constantly and randomly get a clunk when coming to a stop 15 to 20mph. Everytime the truck has the clunking sound the truck lurges forward. Hoping the dealership can replicate the problem but we all know how hard that can be

Exact same downshift, cold or hot and random in D but always in DS. I'll take note of speed next time.
Do you have the 1500rpm full throttle hesitation from 1st to 2nd?
Dealership got that better but admits it's still there. Informing corporate of issue.
Their wondering if it's TRD related as the SRs and limited they have don't do it. Also techs TRD does it too as he just discovered... Lol
    Now it'll drive him nuts.
Going to pick it up now and I'll give you updates, please do the same.

Low fluid mixed with high temps of the diff and the crappy firmware could mean that.

I have the clunk on downshift too! I come to this one stop light about 5 mins into my drive every morning and that is when it is always the most pronounced, though it does it all the time. Loud harsh clunk right before stopping and the truck lunges forward causing me to have to brake harder. I took it to the dealer several times and they checked all things mentioned here. I did the TSB and it seemed to get better for 500-1000miles but its back. I had the service manager drive it for several days but of course he returned it claiming he could not replicate the issue.

I took one of the service advisors for a drive immediately upon picking the truck up because I was pissed. He could feel the clunk and then said it's normal - but I find that so hard to believe. I've had passengers ask what the noise and feeling is. I am going to request to drive another 2016 for a day, to actually see if it's normal like they say it is.

    I appreciate the sympathy. :)
Forgot to update. STILL waiting on my replacement leaf springs..
STILL waiting on any update they have for me with this hesitation too. (ill worry about that when its leaf spring time)
But they graciously cleaned all connections regarding starter, inspected starter and are promising a warranty on the starter IF in the future it fails.
Running great right now with exception of it sounding like an old ford squeaking and the slight hesitation...

The service manager took it home for the night to make sure it started every time and get a better feel for my issues..
He took it out shopping etc. and said he was embarrassed about the squeaks... ya.

I understand off roading will cause issues but for my under 6000km truck to sound like that? come on.
