82998-47010 or 82998-47020 should likely work for you, though I'm not sure how available they actually are right now. It's actually a new type of terminal that Toyota didn't really use before, so a junkyard is probably not likely to be able to help you out either. :(

Unfortunately that would be for a 0.64 pin size (previously the smallest Toyota was using), however the connector in question uses a new 0.5mm size.

Toyota does sell the pins separately, yes. They often sell many of the connectors separately as well.

Unfortunately, none of the items you linked to would be close to working in this situation as the terminals are much too large. There are likely places you can get these connector terminals other than Toyota, but I doubt Radio Shack has them unfortunately. They're not often ones to stock these types of pins.

I do have the part number for the connector that plugs into that switch somewhere, but I can't for the life of me find where I have it. I will check some of my other stuff on Saturday and post it up (provided I find it!).

    Thanks Jeff!

I found a source for those part numbers, but of course the only warehouse stocking them is in Japan! $6 for a terminal is actually reasonable, but shipping is $14!

In the meantime though, I do have a lead on maybe finding a connector at a yard. Worth at least checking out. Coming from a Russian forum about Toyota Camry's, of all places!

So the TL;DR version is this Russian dude busted his ECU connector on an '07 Camry, which just so happens to use 0.5mm terminals. He was trying like mad to find replacement parts including terminals, and stumbled across a bunch of connectors with similar terminals including that 90980-12909 connector (which has been in use since 2012 at least, confirmed that the '12 Rav4 has it too). He struck out trying to source one from Toyota and ended up buying some 0.5 terminals from some rakuten auction or something. HOWEVER, that does mean that some mid 2000's Toyotas have some type of 0.5mm pitch terminals on their ECU.

(This is all as far as I can reckon with Google translate, at least...)

So it turns out my Russian lead was wrong. I spent the day crawling through wrecked Toyotas, found an ECU connector in an annihilated Yaris full of glass shards that matched the description and looked right, clipped the whole damn harness and paid $40 for it (because why not have 40-50 extras?), dutifully stripped out a big pile of terminals... and they're 0.64!:anonymous:

Anyways, I found only ONE place online selling both 82998-47010 and 82998-47020... called "MegaZip.net" that looks like it's some sort of bizarre rakuten-type place that has a Japanese source for the parts? Anyways I have it via paypal so I can always pull the buyer protection card if there is any funny business. Ordered 1 of each part number!

Now to wait.:boink: I don't like pulling things apart twice, but I might have to just suck it up and put the Taco back together so I'm not riding in my roomate's Fiesta for the next few weeks.:kona:

I would have just ordered one of them, unless you want to have a spare. Sorry maybe I should have specified the difference, the 47020 is gold-plated, the 47010 is not.

Either way, doesn't sound like it was too expensive.

I hope it works out for you.

Ah, I thought you meant it was a "one or the other" type thing. No harm done, you're right- it wasn't too expensive, shipping was the worst part. I can always sell the spare along to a TW member who wants to do the same thing.

I just wonder if I'm going to have to do some intricate disassembly procedure or if it will just slide right in and click to secure.

Most of the modern connectors will have a double lock, once you release the secondary lock (typically a plastic strip that needs to be pulled out slightly), the pin will slide right in and secure to the primary lock.

I didn't see anything like a strip or secondary lock, this connector is actually made out of 4 layers that snap together. Totally boggles me.

Like you can gently pop the row layers apart, all 3 rows and then a top "cover" piece.

Do you have any other pictures of the connector, I haven't worked with many 0.5 connectors before, mostly 0.64 I/II/III double-locks (or larger). It's possible that they're not even double lock, though that seems unlikely.

You can see in this diagram where the pin release is, it can be tricky on these smaller connectors to get them to release, but if it does have a secondary lock it will be impossible, lol.

I saw that while looking over the wiring manuals and considered doing it, but I want to have it work exactly to OEM spec. The control ECU does all sorts of nice things like light them as courtesy lamps and click them off if you park and leave the lights on.

Just hard wiring it hot means you can run your battery down, and also some inspection stations get pissy about fogs that do not turn off when high beams come on.

I swear, every time I try to take a picture my phone camera gets shittier and shittier.:frusty:

Anyways here's the wacky thing up close, with the top most "lock piece" removed and the first row separated from the middle row. Looks like each row's secondary locking is done by the piece above it.

I'm semi-giddy here, I'm such a colossal nerd but this might be the icing on the cake for my fog light mod.

@Jeff Lange , I hate to bother you AGAIN but, I have another parts number favor...

So TL;DR rundown... in the meantime waiting for that other terminal we discussed (expected to ship the 30th at last estimate) I had a stopgap solution of a pep boys switch installed into one of the button blanking plates that I drilled a hole in.
Well, that solution sucked. The stupid switch kept falling partially out of the hole and was driving me nuts.:annoyed: Probably for the better though, because when I took everything apart again, I decided I would look up what this completely unused connector was:

Turns out it's for the deck light (bed light) that the SR also doesn't have. Here's the kicker though... that top row of 2 terminals? +illum and -illum... an unused source of dimmed dash lights!!:bananadance: So I ran out, ordered an OEM 2015 dash light and connector. Here's the only change I'll need to make:

so I can have an OEM 2015 switch that's lit and dimmed in a 2016!

So then, what male terminals would I use to stick into a 90980-10801 connector? These ones are way bigger and I'm gonna guess are way more common.
Secondly, I am annoyed at myself for drilling through the molded-in part number on that dash blanking plate. It's the shorter, fatter square one that would blank out the inverter switch in the middle here:
What P/N would I order to get a new blanking plate, and cover my shame?

I just went out and ripped the cubby hole out of my dash & snapped some pics. I believe this is the switch blank part number you are looking for @Nitori image.jpgimage.jpg

Thanks @ExplorHer , you're awesome! Apparently these plugs come in color codes too though, so I need to figure that out before ordering.

Jeff if you see this before my other post, scratch the terminals I was asking for. I looked and realized that the deck light switch terminals were the exact same as the fog light switch terminals... pop the secondary lock on the connector, use a little tool to pull the terminals out, and boom, there's your connectors!
(I'll be mating these wires into the appropriate fog light switch connector but I was too excited to test it out.)

The real icing on the cake, 100% touchdown dance thing would be if I could find the PN for the light blue (color-matching) switch bulb... I gently popped the light out and tried to pull the bulb condom off but it seemed pretty well stuck on there, and I didn't want to bugger up a bulb I had just gotten home.

That would take some doing. The pickle of it all is that Toyota doesn't like to list these bulbs separately very often anymore, in fact they don't even sell it separately for the 2015 switch. That said, after some searching, the correct older bulb should be 90011-01058 (this doesn't help you, but it is interesting).

Not sure about getting that thing to light up blue, but I'll keep looking.

    Jeff,

Are you able to get the part numbers for the 2016 Front ring and pinion in the 4.3 ratio and the rear ring and pinion for the 8.75" dif, 4.3 ratio?

    Thank you
    James

Is there a part number and approximate price for an ECT button that goes below the radio console? Preferably with a pigtail. And where are we with the ecu pins? I have some ideas brewing...
