One side slides and the side in the picture flips up. The flip up side also slides but only %20, it's a 40-20-40. The flip up was a $300 option per side so I only got it on the drivers side. Plus, when I put my dogs in the back, I can open the sliding portion on the passenger side.

Yeah, that's why I put an oem camera and mirror in my 2007 and really appreciate the camera in this one.

Nice...another Super White with a Snugtop Super Sport. I peeled off my bedside TRD decals and it looks way better IMO...

Here's a '16 with the SnugTop Hi-Liner. I had a SnugTop on my first Tacoma, a '96, and it was great. When I got my '01, since living in North Carolina, I couldn't get one, so I opted for an ARE. The quality of layup, composite fabric, and hardware was nowhere near the SnugTop. Now we live in Washington state, so when ordering a shell for our '16 it definitely was going to be a SnugTop. Although some might eschew the appearance of the rise from cab level, I prefer the small gain in cargo and headroom if using the shell for a impromptu shelter when chasing whitewater rivers for a weekend.

We got the Sportsman edition for the extra load carrying capacity since we regularly carry up to six kayaks or a raft up there on the cross-bars. The tracks on top are also factory tracks I put the racks from my old truck onto. I really like SnugTop's low profile clamping system. The installation shop even took some silicone filler to some of the small gaps not covered with minicell foam in the front of the bed so it would be dryer - a definite consideration when you live in a rainforest. I'm guessing almost all companies have it now, but I really do like the LED light inside the shell for finding stuff.

My Tundra with a shell has terrible rear vision through the layers of dark glazing. At night or on overcast days, I need to roll down the rear window if I need to use the rearview mirror. When back my camper, I raise the shell rear window and still lower the rear window.

Backing takes a bit of planning but I've learned to plot my backing path before I get into the truck rather than rely solely on the view from inside.

Good to see so many fellow GSP owners around here. This is our boy Willie Nelson. He's the biggest/sweetest/goofiest/craziest lap dog we've ever had, and he's a helluva lot smarter than I am!

Yep, but you learn to use your side mirrors more and rear camera if you have it. I can see out my rear window for the most part though.

Anybody got a PRO-LOCK with Keyless Remote Control for their Snugtop? Can you snap a picture of the solenoid? I'm planning to wire up a pop and lock for the tailgate, and want to wire up the camper shell at the same time. Thanks!

I think 'nutball' should be written into their breed standards, lol.

Lift kit, weight distribution hitch. Camper shell. Kayak Rack.
So I traded my 08 and got a 16 long bed 4x4 lifted and ordered a ranch shell. After riding around with leer all theese years I have not found any substantial difference in quality between the two. I was told that it would be a few weeks until I get it, which is fine.

My problem is... as you might have guessed it... bed light. A fantastic button about to go to waste. Since bed light will be covered up by a shell I think what I will do is disconnect a light and wire 2 wire leads coming out of it, sealed and all. I just can't allow such a wonderful button to go to waste.

My original goal was to order ranch since its cheaper with side doors and fiberglass cubbies... until I found out that you have to pay for the doors and for the cubbies out the wazoo. 200 per windoor and then like 250 per cubby. The hell? I mean I want cubbies but not that bad. And so I plan to swing by ace hardware, get myself some band clamps for tailgate lock mod and then engineer myself a grocery storage thing. I saw a few online and in stores but I am sure I can make something super cheap and removable.

I also learned that I will have to lower my weight distribution hitch which in my post accident decrepit condition is a tall order. One thing at a time.

My 2016. Was able to grab a Jeraco with flip down/sliding front and sliding sides with inner liner and led lights off Craigslist for $900. The seller also threw in a bad mat also as he traded his 16 in on a tundra.
