I haven't read this here before, but just today I noticed after shutting the motor down, about 15 seconds later there was a whirring sound coming from the dash. It's not the steering wheel lock, that happens quicker. I'm thinking its the defrost vent closing to prevent frost in the winter, but IDK.

Anyone have any insight to share?

I've heard the same on mine. No clue what it is but assume it's just a normal sound.

It's odd because it's coming from the center of the dash. Not much there to make that sound, other than vents and CD Players.

Sounds like it's right in the dash, so I doubt it.

Possibly, but it sounds too quick to be that.

3rd gen tacos don't have air pumps anymore.

It's likely a vent closing, just slightly louder, there's not much that moves behind the dash.

Ya, I would guess if your defrost vent is open, it will shut it down after the truck is turned off. But on my 2nd Gen it was more of a vent shutting off sound, like a click. This is more of a motor sound for a couple seconds, so makes me wonder. Maybe it's due to the new auto temp settings and dual zones. There may be actuators on the vents to alter temperatures, versus open vents or not.

    Lucky technicians :bananadance:

I used to unplug the drivers prior to PDI due to the proximity of the catalyst and the block heater port (for us canadian bastards)
