I'm getting a TRD ORAC and want to lift the front enough to get 285 75/16 on there. About once a year will take on extended trip and off roading but most of the time drive around town and to the lumber yard.

It looks like the TRD OR sits a little higher than the other new Tacomas sitting next to it. Is that the case?

Considering the 5100 shocks for the front. What's the difference between those and the stock shock on the OR? What setting on the 5100 would be the same as the stock OR?

You TRD OR - has 4600 Bilsteins all around.. They are THE SAME THING as 5100s.

5100s are made for a LIFTED truck .. meaning you need to install taller springs in the front (EMU 885's thru EMU 888s) AND minimum AALs and 5100s in the rear.

Only difference between what you have from factory and the 5100s is LONGER travel with the 5100s ... there's no advantage to setting the 5100s higher than ZERO setting to "lift" the truck.
The "proper way" to lift is with springs and leave the 5100s set to zero.

    No shortcuts... really.

This setup with springs and 5100s is gonna give you a slightly stiffer ride, better control in the corners; off road with new springs .. hold on .. its going to be fun.

So does the OR sit any higher than the other 4x4 models? Is it also tilted forward an inch or so?

The OR sits at the same height as all the other Tacoma's, except the pro. The pro sits 1" higher. Almost all trucks (including Tacoma) come from the factory with the front lower than the rear by a few inches. If your truck will be mostly on the pavement with just the occasional light off road, I would keep it stock. Due to my job, I spend quality time running forest service roads and light off roading. The stock springs and shocks are holding up just fine. That being said I will probably be looking into a lift sometime in the next year or so. If you really have you heart set on 285 75/16, then you are going to need a lift and do some trimming. I don't have that setup so hopefully someone who dose will chime in and let you know what they needed to do. Hope this helps and welcome to the club.

Hmmm... unless the 2016 suspension is different than previous Off Road TRDs, the factory Bilstein shocks (yellow/ blue) are much smaller than 5100s. Last year, I added 5100s to the front and rear... The front shocks have ride height settings via moving a clip-on plate which compresses the coil-over spring.
There are three height increase settings and stock height. Mine are up one notch (3/4" lift), and the other two options are something like 1.5" and 2.25" (without looking). There are a zillion threads on front 5100 installs. SpeedFreek did mine... I posted photos.

Thanks for the welcome. I've been on some of the posts about lift. It looks like you can't go any bigger on tires without lifting. I did the 285s on my FJ and loved the look. But you are probably right about leaving alone at first.

On the Second Gen Off Road 4WD, 265/75-16 is the largest without getting any rub... It is approx. 1" taller than stock tires.

Don't you have 5100s on your truck?

I just installed 5100s on all 4 corners of my truck. I kept the stock spring and set the front to .85. The ride is not any stiffer than it was before, actually the ride is better IMO. Truck is damn near perfectly level now. I didn't have to do anything in the rear other than the shocks. No issues at all.
