A new bolt here, a new bolt there, a new bolt everywhere.
My favorite tires are Pitbull Rockstars. They rip through what ever you throw at them. I have had a set on multiple vehicle and atvs. They have yet to let me down. On my Can Am Renegade I couldn't travel through the yard because it would look like I took an auger to it. *Learned the hard way :frusty:20160629_095423.jpg 20160629_095545.jpg

I'm torn. My pops needs new tires on his truck and they are the same size as the stock OEM ORs. He said he would buy them from me.

So I could feasibly grab new tires for ~$200-300 out of pocket once he throws me some money for GYs.

The reason I'm torn is: I only want the KO2's based on looks. I dont do heavy off-roading and any "need" for an aggressive A/T tire is purely aspirational. I do mostly city and highway driving: seriously probably <100miles have been on trails (and I have ~13K on my truck, so .07% of my driving). The only way it even remotely makes sense for me to get new tires is if I stick with 16" tires (so I dont have to buy new wheels as well). That means an E rated KO2 thats ~13-15lbs heavier than the OEM GY. So, my mileage and ride quality would be impacted. I've also seen those threads about K02s running bare in 8-12k miles. Lame.

Since this is purely an aesthetic thing, other tire options are limited. Unless we go to duratracs or mudders (but I haven't heard great things about road noise with any other AT). Even with the KO2s people always say "its super quiet <incoming caveat that does me no good> for an AT tire</caveat>"

I feel a slight sense of urgency, because I dont want to keep putting miles on these tires if I am going to sell them to my dad, and he needs tires before winter...

I need some TW advice. HALP

I have the Nitto Terra Grappler G2's on the same rims you plan on getting. Biggest point is understand they are significantly wider than stock and you will feel more. But the road noise is minimal and they've done well in the mud for me. I'll post you a couple pics.

Remember with those rims you're going to have a 40mm offset and about a 4" back spacing. My tires are 265/70/17

I've had Cooper discoverer mtp's for about 3 weeks now and I love them! Decently priced, soft ride, very quiet for a mud terrain, and very aggressive looking. I love them so far and this is coming from running set of bfg a/t's for 4 years. The bfg had good tread life left but they were starting to dry rot so I had to replace them.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the Falken Wildpeak AT3. I've had them on my truck for about a week now, and they have been great so far. I wanted an AT tire that had an aggressive looking sidewall, didn't weigh too much, and they're about 45 bucks cheaper per tire than the toyo and nitto AT in that size. I got mine in a 265/70/18 standard load. They ride smooth, and quiet on the road.

Believe it or not- tires for 18" rims are cheaper than for 17"&16"rims. They seem to be more popular. But I only paid $600 for my tires brand new so I can't complain and they do the job.

I didn't think the stock Goodyear Wrangler Adventure would be as off-road capable as the actually are. They really impressed me with their performance while wheeling yesterday. The street performance is top notch also.

Unfortunately they are coming off and being replaced with Cooper STT Pro's today. I coulda used that money on skids if I would have off-roaded before I ordered the Coopers.

I had Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor tires on my truck for 48K until I ran over an unknown object and punctured one of my tires. They held up well considering the truck is not garage kept. The tires were starting to show some wear, slight cracking, and chipping of the rubber. For replacements I went with Toyo AT2. 15K miles on them so far and no sign of break down yet.
