Actually, it's wine. I lied. But I just realized how coioncidental that is. Howl...whine...wine...

Anyhow, all cynical joking aside, I would not be surprised if the quiet cabin of the 3rd Gen suppresses some sounds better than others, compared to previous gens.

Has anyone tracked if the howl is mostly the 8" or new 8.75" diffs?

From what I've read in the thread with the what 60+ pages started by smitty its mostly the off roads with hte 8.75 diff but some sports and sr5 so some 8" are affected too.

The sports I've seen affected are manuals with the 8.75. But I haven't read every post either.

    could be the case.

Would make sense. After all the 8" is just carried from last gens which didn't have the issue.
Could just be the new 8.75" one. Wouldn't be surprised.

Maybe some sport/SR5 owners could give some input.

The 8'' was updated from 2nd gens. The theory is a small intolerance in the gearing during manufacturing.

Oddly enough, I loved my 15 but even they had a big pending problem, look up the secondary air pump issues, $1400 repair right there, known problem on 14-15.

    LOL
    I'm kidding.
I know many people that swear by them, and all other toyotas for that matter as great vehicles.
One of the reasons I looked into them so much and have decided on it.

My 2000, 2008, 2011 were extremely reliable/dependable, only had the 15 for a 1.5 yr/32k. lol. I do love these trucks, I had a fullsize for 4 months, hated it. I had a 95 celica that had 230k miles on it no issues in H.S.

    Oh I know.
    Same with frame rot etc

Someone mentioned it in another thread. When the 2nd gen came out eveyrone said the 1st gen was the last good one.
Now everyone loves 1st and 2nd gen and say the 3rd gen is shit. Wait in 10 years when the 4th gen is out and its the same thing LOL.
All vehicles have their issues. To me a vehicle having an issue isn't all that bad as long as the company addresses the issue and fixes it.

Besides one part that has greatly influenced my decision with Toyota, better safety ratings than the others, and that safety really helps for better insurance.

Agreed, everytime I've had an issue Toyota has addressed it, until they let me down, I will continue to give them my business.

word. My grandmother has had nothing but toyotas.
Aunt and uncle same thing nothing but toyota.
Girlfriend and her mom have always had toyota.
Many coworkers swear by toyota as great.

I had a 93 supra for a while loved it, only got rid of it because I was made an offer I couldn't refuse and I couldn't afford insurance for it.
Currently working on building a drift car with my friend with an old 86 trueno.

    Toyota makes great stuff.
Many hate on VW too, but I love them as well. I've had a few of them.
