2010 Taco leaving oil spots on floor

2.7L 4wd Std Cab, about 2600 miles. Oil dripping off of left front lower control arm bushing / mount. Near as I can tell, its coming from the steering rack. PS fluid is a hair low. Anybody else?
Kinda blows my reason for buying a Toyota outa the water. Off to the dealer we go.

 

I've never bought a new vehicle that I didn't have to take back for at least one thing.

 

I dropped the front skid plate so I could see what is leaking. It's the steering input shaft seal, where it goes into the rack. I see a new rack in my future. Goes in tomorrow.

 

Mine has 2,400 miles and see tranny oil on the garage floor (first time in 3 Tacomas ('01, '05, '10) to see any leak... 245,000 miles between them... Just back from the dealer and reports that an O-ring where the speedometer cable connects to the tranny needs to be replaced... no biggy, but they have to order it.

 

It may sound crazy but I actually like when shit breaks under warranty. You have the hassle of dropping it off in the morning but getting new parts for free is cool.

 

Honestly- Who cares?? Shit breaks sometimes- and your warranty should cover that- costing you 0 dollars. It's a non issue really.

 

After hearing about legendary Toyota quality for 30 years, I care. I also care about the three trips to my Jag-off dealer to get this fixed. The purpose of posting was to see if anybody else had the problem, not whether anybody gave a $hit.

 

O ring replaced, in 1/2 day... still had a free use of a new Toyota to do stuff today while they replaced the o-ring.

 

have you jumped your truck in the past? the oil pan (on the V6's) can ram into the steering rack if the truck encounters hard vertical impacts.

 

I understand your upset, but every vehicle will have some sort of poblems, some start early and some start late. Just depends on your luck I guess. And to have a truck with very few miles already haveing problems (especially a Toyota) is obviously not vehicle error but parts error from the factory. There are ALOT of people on here who have had none to very few problems with there 2 gens including me with none.

hundreds of thousands and vehicles produced with so many different parts, not everything is always perfect but its nice to know they fix it if its not

 

Old post revival.

Just under 40k on my 2010, and it seems my input shaft seal is leaking also.

Anyone else, and did you fix it yourself by installing the seal kit?, or replace the entire rack by bringing it somewhere.
