I'll repeat my initial comment of

"Since you don't offroad and don't 'need' a lift, I'd recommend doing more research, saving more money, and doing it correctly the first time."

Sounds to me like you are in a hurry for some reason. I don't know what the rush is about. Is something broken that needs immediate attention, making a window of opportunity for an upgrade?

And why the craze to stuff jumbo rubber under something that will never use it, when every impact (except looks) is negative?

Sorry, I meant that I mainly use it as a daily driver but I live in a very rural area with a 14,000 acre farm with mountains all around so I do some trail riding here and there with a lot of rough backroads, however, I won't be rockclimbing or doing any super rough trails where I am at full flex the entire time

I love my new truck but miss my Tacoma
Your welcome. The other guy may have been right about looking around but I know I was new at one time too and needed a direction to go toward. Just saying to search doesn't really help you out at all.
I had the 5100's on my stock sport springs and it rode nice. Different trucks do come with different springs though. I skipped doing new springs until I changed over to OME stuff so I can't compare. Sounds like Devins got some good answers and speaking from experience so I would listen to what he says

I've run a spacer lift before, and had no issues. That being said, I didn't off road a whole lot with it, and never put it on a trail. My truck I have now has a full suspension lift, but I spent that money because I plan to really push my suspension. I have buddies that run with spacer lifts, and for light to moderate off roading, they have had no problems with it. Obviously, a full set of upgraded suspension components are better, but not necessary for what you are planning. I'd say go with the spacer lift, you won't notice the differences with your planned uses.

Are you having tire related traction issues now? Ground clearance issues?

Appropriate rubber for your use is certainly in order. It will make the single greatest capability change. But unless you've already proven that you have to have bigger-than-will-easily-fit tires, you can still make huge improvements with a slightly larger than stock, and more aggressive tread tire.

Rough roads, for me, demands a supple suspension choice to maintain some ride quality. If you can leave it stock, do so.

If you have ground clearance issues, pick a front spring for the goal you need to accomplish, and match it with a damper that will properly control that spring rate. Same concept if you need more rear spring.

Your best bet at the moment will be to call Headstrong offroad, ask for Marie, and tell her your goals. If her recommendation exceeds your current budget, save up till you can get that.

Everything I hear around here about their recommendations/products/service/pricing leads me to that conclusion. Will save you lots of hair pulling trying to figure it out for yourself.

Can you give me a few of the products that you would recommend. And what would you consider to be "low-cost" because I can save some extra money but I can't build up huge amounts of money due to schooling. (I would rather have a lift that is below or around the $500 range that would fulfill my looks/slight off-road use)

just to clear up the spacer lift issues. Its true you can go a long time before noticing any ill affects from using them if you drive in a reserved manor. but its not an opinion but a fact that by design they are capable of harming the truck. In normal circumstances the shock will limit the downtravel when the tire droops (like dropping into a pothole lets say). with the spacer the entire strut assembly is lowered and so the travel is no longer limited. the suspension maxes out and the uca will slam into the coil and the strut is still forcing the lca down at that point. In the case of bottoming out because the strut is lowered it will now bottom out before the lca even touches the bump stops. that metal on metal abruptly stopping can and has caused damage to struts and even strut mounts.

If you were in my situation, what would you purchase. Lift kit budget of $500. If anything.

5100s preloaded with stock coils and an aal for the rear. some 31" or 32" at tires. Save your money while in school. you can upgrade to some actual coilovers or whatever after you get shit sorted.

Could you link me to some of those products if you don't mind? And could you explain some of the pros and cons cause it would really help me with the decision and I would really like to me more knowledgeable in this area.

and despite not being the best for mpg you cant go wrong with the ko2 tires. weve have great luck with them so far. depending on what gearing your truck has i wouldnt go up to a 33" personally. thing will be a pig on 33s alone.

tacos naturally have a slight lean to the drivers side so a little strut spacer or "trim packer" on the drivers side is used to counter this.

with 5125s at full droop the stock brake line gets quite tight. for $35 its a cheap investment when it comes to the possibility of loosing your brakes.

all. you can search it some more as the "taco lean" its mostly just because of the added weight of gas tank, battery, and driver. hardly noticeable in most trucks

So is that everything I would need? I was thinking about adding some pro comp series 51 gloss back 16x8 wheels with maybe 265/75r16 KO2s
