I have to ask. All you guys that are installing larger tires on your 2016"s, do you have manual transmissions or are you changing the ratio of your rear diff? I have a 2016 4 door double cab with auto trans. I'd love to put 265/70/17's on her, but I'm afraid I'd have to get out & push to get her rolling.

My 285/65 18s I didn't notice a huge difference in power. I also only lost maybe 1-2 mpg according to my hud calculator. I'll do it on paper my next tank of gas.

    Yes, that's what I run.

Idk why everyone is so infatuated with 285/75's knowing they are going to rub. I don't think I've seen a single person that has add them that hasn't had to do some sort of modification to their truck to keep shit from getting torn up.

That's why I went with 285/65. Same width but not as tall. I only rubbed on my air dam.

1 inch taller. I was thinking 16" wheel.

I was thinking 16. My Pro was 265/70/16 stock.

My truck came auto with the 265/65/17 bfg rugged terrain. 265/70/17 wouldn't make much of a difference to where you have to change anything. I went to 285/70/17 for the looks of the truck. The 265s to me looked a little too small imo. Yea I gotta add/remove stuff to keep it from rubbing but it's what I Gotta do. I want to make it look the way I want it to. I didn't re-gear, feel a little loss in power but not drastic and lost 1-2 mpg. Have to press down a little more on the gas but Still fill up once a week as I would with the stock tires. Everyone's got different taste.

Then you should be fine then. If you did that size would tear the shit out of it without a lift and some chopping.

I know. I was planning to go for a trd 4x4 and go with 275s but then really looked at it and realized I never really go off-roading nor do I really have time for it lol especially with a newborn. So an SR5 rwd was goo enough for a daily and hwy driving. Keeping this till I pay it off, just wanted to make it for looks and better stance. Did have to do some trimming already but nothing major...yet lol.

    Awesome
You've just saved me $750 for not getting a set of trd wheels :)
I'll just run these tires/size on stock wheels. Thx

Been having hell with my '15 Taco and 285/70/17's. I had the ToyTec Boss installed with the SPC Upper Control Arm upgrade and add-a-leaf for the rear.

Had rubbing issues right out of the shop and took it back. They cut some of the plastic wheel well protection and some of the inside of the fender flare.

I have cut out about 10" of the plastic wheel well protection in the back as it was rubbing that and still need to cut out the inside of the fender flare some more.

The upper ball joint went out after less than 20K miles and ToyTec sent the replacement part. The shop here in Steamboat charged me shipping, labor and a new alignment (with, of course, their mark-up! WTF?). I was in a rush and took off immediately to the mountains for hunting. The tires rubbed so bad that I had to come down early and get it back to the shop. The rubbing was horrible and tearing up the tires. Got into town on Friday.

The shop said that there were only two options - cut the body mounts or go to a smaller size tire. I was not enthusiastic about cutting the body mounts so had them install new tires - 265/70/17's. They cut me a bit of a deal (still about $30 more per tire than if I ordered them in). Drove home and the 265's rubbed going into the driveway!!! WTF Indeed! Nothing I could do until Monday so parked the truck.

Took it in on Monday and was waiting for them at 7:00am. Had them remove the 265's, put the 285's back on, give me back my money, and get me in for a re-alignment. The shop that did the re-alignment said that they could not get the front tires any further forward (still not sure about that BS). The 285's still rub, but not as horribly. Thinking that I will have to go to a different shop to try and get them moved forward some more as well as possibly cut the body mounts and cut more out of the fender flares. This is getting ridiculous.

Man, this sounds like a horrible experience...Sorry bud :(

I was wanting to go with the either the FN FX pro wheels or Method NV wheels with a 275 BFG KO2 and the 1/4" Toytec leveling spacer (for now), but I may just stick with 265s after all the horror stories I've been reading. Not to mention, I don't want the E load tire to turn my passengers into a milkshake.
