Ditto. Ignore it. They won't serve in person. No report to insurance, DMV, etc.

Definitely don't suspend license, I've gotten a couple and haven't paid them. Don't think they've gone to collections, I've never been served, still alive and well

No, when I was getting a mortgage a few years back, I called the city to verify. That's when she told me they were all dismissed, and that they only carry any weight if you get served in person by a police officer.

Yeah, don't ignore those! About 10 years ago I found out my license had been canceled due to a late paid parking ticket. Had to go through the entire process again, learner's permit, driving test, license test, another driving test. I lost my M endorsement because of that.

apparenty she was. i was just curious as to how speed cameras operate in this state since im new here. in california there arent any speed cameras that i know of. an officer has to pull you over and verify your identity.

Not trying to be mean about it but if she was speeding what's the difference if it was a camera or a motorcycle cop that tagged her? The crime was still committed and someone got caught. So IMO it should get paid. Also FWIW I got one of the speed camera tickets, I was speeding so I paid it. No points and nothing was reported to insurance.

    Sorry... rant over.

Research shows that if reinforcement needs to happen while the behavior is occurring or shortly thereafter to have any affect. That makes redlight and speed cameras are just for financial gain not for actually changing behavior.

    That's illegal. Should've fought.
    Thompson v.Smith, 154 SE 579, 11 American Jurisprudence, Constitutional Law, section 329, page 1135
The difference is one is served as purely financial gain (speed camera) while the other may serve a bigger perpose. Usually you pull over a speeder in hopes of finding a more serious offense unless you legitimately feel the speeder is a safety hazard.

@huzer Sorry, think that was a different one, but there is another one concerning your issue.

Edit: It's the one concerning the right to travel unmolested by the police, this is also addressed.

The way the law is written they're the same thing. Basically any device that isn't manned, regardless of whether it's speed or just a red light or whatever. And has been discussed, tickets that arise from these devices are much less enforced/enforceable than anything done by a person. That said, I do know people here in Fort Collins have been served in person after failing to pay the mailed notice on a photo radar ticket.

Toll stuff is/can be an entirely different animal. They can and will send you to collections. They're essentially private entities.
