I'm definitely questioning them now a little bit. Funny thing is that they're a really reputable all Toyota shop. You'd think that they would take a look for themselves or at least do a little research before trying to charge me for things I don't need.

Any shop that tries to rip you off like that - run - run away. If you can't trust them to be honest or worse know wtf they are doing you should seriously reconsider letting these douche bags recreate your cross member and do the rest of the work...f'n scary bro

A few audio upgrades, tinted windows, remote start because it f'n hot in Texas! 6in Fabtech DB lift, 17x9 Fuel Trophy wheels, 315/70/17 Duratracs,BAMF 80in sliders w/kickout, Prinsu cab rack w/30in Heretic light bar, custom bedside decals, custom hi-lift jack brackets, US Offroad front bumper w/winch, bed rack with RTT, CB, Short wave base station, Ultra gauge, color matched grille surround, an ungodly amount of recover gear, ARB fridge, hood struts, RotoPax, traction pads.
Okay, so I took the truck out wheeling last weekend and pushed it a little hard. I may or may not have caught air while entertaining the idea of the Baja 1000 :anonymous:

Now I have a bent compression bar one the passenger side and wonder if it is a big deal :notsure:

Had a great time and don't regret it. Just need to know if I should fix it. :mudding:

Edit: I did find this post so I'm not sure if I am too worried but I imagine that they do help with the additional torque and twisting of the front end

bro...a torsion bar is an active suspension component not found on a Toyota truck since the 90's. A torsion bar serves the same pupose a a coil spring. I assume you are referring to the braces that go from your rear drop bracket to the frame ? If so how did you bend it did you hit it on a rock ? you can't bend those much without it doing bad things and if it bent die to flex in the DB you've got issues

Yes, I understand they are not torsion bars. I went back and edit my comment. I am referring to the compression struts that go from the DB to the cross member. I was doing "bad things" as you say, as I mentioned I was pushing it harder than I should. I drop down on rocks frequently so it most likely happened that way. But back to the question at hand, will the bent bar effect anything if it is bent?

    Edit: added pic

That's not too bad, my concern is that when you bend a straight piece of tubing it becomes shorter...while it is still attached on both ends which will pull and possible tweak somethings IE: the brackets or the X memeber. That looks like you could remove it and straighten it.

Ryan (manwithoutaplan) his were bent to shit like that from wheeling hard.

There have been many discussions as to their purpose and if they are needed. @Glueman just built a skid over his.

Hey guys been lurking on TW for a while haven't been on this thread much until last night I read quite a bit and learned a lot I do have a few questions though. I'm wanting to get rid of the top spacers upfront I have the fabtech basic kit I'm running bilstein 5100s with the toytec tophats from what a read is that I can get the RCD bilstein and that puts me at 5" upfront and if I add 883 springs it puts me to 6" so I need no top spacers except the taco lean spacer? Also for the rear setup I'm running all pro expo springs and a 3"-4" tapered block and the truck is sitting pretty level would a shackle flip extended shackle eliminate the rear block? I'm trying to get rid of any and all spacers so it's a little more offroad worthy

A flip and 5" shackle (depending on position of the bolt) will give about 1.5" (+-.25) of lift approx.
At least thats what I saw from mine.

Ok so if I go with the 5" shackle I can cut the block in half or run a 1" block to keep it level

In theory, or get a taller leaf pack or re-arch to eliminate the block

There are a few posts in here about it. Fox, Icon & Bilstein make a direct coilover to replace the spacer. @Evenflow had King make an 8" coilover with a 10" shaft I believe for his before he just removed the DB and went LT. He can elaborate more.

I would advise you get a good UCA to align it like Total Chaos or DK, you wont need the heimed ones.

My preference is TC, especially now that the shop I part time at is a dealer for them and King.

I dont know who stocks billies honestly. But if you already have uniball uppers just go with a ext travel coilover like Fox, King or Icon. You might as well take advantage of that extra bit of droop youre getting with the upper.

I may be able to get you a price on those Fox's through another account I have axcess to as well.

Well I have potential of a great deal I can Icon 2.5 ext travel RR that give 3" of lift for 1000$ my brother has those in his rig but is parting his rig out to buy the new 17 pro.... Could I just get the extended travel icons get 700lb springs to get 3" with minimal spanner wrenching and put a 3" spacer on top of that? I think a 3" spacer is a lot better than a 6" spacer... @2ndGenJonny
