fair enough, yea any mill machines are unreal! my dad worked for Georgia Pacific till they closed their plant in Catawba and now he's with Boise Cascade in chester (I think its Boise Cascade at least.) they just had all new lathes and machines put in earlier this year and even he was amazed at how big they were!

That's cool. GP is a competitor. I haven't heard of Boise. We have people from GP, Kimberly Clark, P&G, etc. Our dryer was made on a vertical lathe that I've only seen in pics. It took two cranes to set it on the machine. We have state of the art equipment. I'm sure he would love to see it.

 

We are non integrated. We bring in dried pulp by rail, so no stench here thank God. The pulp mills are where the stench is.

yea im not sure what they were really installing but it tooks about 2 weeks and was a few stories tall. Boise Cascade is a plywood mill over in Chester. GP was the paper mill he worked at and yea I cant really smell pulp mills anymore haha. its just another normal smell in my memories. there was a free car wash on site so that you could drive through it and hope it got some of the stench off your car.

Non stench pulp non fiction.

It was from all of the liquor settling that comes out of the pulp process. Luckily ours is just moisture from the drying process. When we have a frost it's always thicker on the windshield at work because the moisture settles around the plant.
