Opinion? Yes they're all way to damn exspensive. I'd be happy with the eBay bumper but too heavy for my little 4 banger

Weight is what I'm trying to avoid all the while being prepared to travel who knows where around the country for a year or so. I'm planning on aluminum skids too

They have a weld it yourself aluminum version for about $900 and in South Carolina so shipping shouldn't be ridiculous.

I have been thinking aluminum everything but was warned that the aluminum skids aren't very sturdy

Just putting that out there because of how cheap it is compared to the complete which is about $1500. Not trying to volunteer anyone if they do have one.

So the headstrong 5100 kit works out to approximately $650 +/- shipping, taxes, etc. I should be hearing about a position/salary change on thur. So if all goes well:fingerscrossed:, it will happen very soon.:turtleride:

ok some clarification please. we know what you originally stated the you would like to have. what are you looking at in this kit? i'll take you for a ride in mine if youd like so you can see how it rides prior to ordering. i've already put 2 lift kits on mine and i've only had it since december point being spend your money wisely unless it's no object. i am perfectly confident, through the guidence of some knowlegble friends, that while my truck may not have the fanciest, most exspensive suspension available it is perfectly capable of handling anything i'll encounter here on the east coast.

@Casper66 im looking for mild lift to retain comparable ride capabilities and allowing larger tires for backwoods roaming. Thank you for the offer, I think I need to take you up on it. I'll get my Oct schedule this weelend and we can go from there.

@Casper66. What kit do you have now? My buddy has a rough country 3" that we installed last 2 summer's ago, and it rides pretty rough, that's why I was looking to the HS kit, essentially OE just higer;)

i started with the rough country kit. now i have a collection of goodies not really any kind of kit. the rear is wheeler's 3 leaf progressive aal, rough country shocks, and extended brake lines (yet to be installed). the front is bilstein 5100's set at .85 (second notch) with eibach 112620 620# coils, and superbumps. 2.5" lift in the front and around 3 in the rear. the reason why i was asking what you are looking at in the kit is it can be stock height or lifted depending on what items you select and how they are setup. for instance if you install 5100's set at 0 with your stock coils you'll be at stock height. if you move the struts to a higher setting you'll get lift but negate the benefits of the bilstein strut because you'll preload the coils and in esence end up with the same thing as if you put a spacer in. put an eibach or ome coil like an 885 with your bilstein set at 0 and you'll get the lift you want around 2.5" plus it will allow the strut to work as it should with no preload
