Just upgraded from the stock Dunlop 245/75R16's to DuraTrac 265/75/16 load range C. They seem to ride pretty good - maybe a little noisy. Haven't taken them on the highway yet. No mud flaps so no rubbing issues thus far.

The shop set the PSI at 35.. Anyone know if this is the proper PSI or what my options are? I called Goodyear but they won't give a recommended PSI because they are oversized tires for my model truck and they don't want to be held accountable. Toyota recommended running the stock 245's at 30 psi all around.

I've got a 2013 AC, 4X4, 2.7 liter, no lift. Stock rims. Speaking of which, do I need to get the lugs re-tourqued after a few miles?

    Thanks.

Fills in your wells nicely with no lift. Hope you can cope with the noise.

Do do you think adding some more air would reduce the noise?

Not sure. I drove mine for about 100 miles before I took them back and exchanged. They had them at 35 and I never messed with them.

I really wanted 285/75-16s, but did not want load E. My local discount tire had 265/75-16 C duratracs in stock so I got them. First time above 45 I noted how loud they were, and only got louder the faster I went. Had them order in a set of 285/75-16 Nitto terra graplers(load D). Not as aggressive as the goodyear but much quieter, the size I wanted, and tread works well for my needs. Without question, the duratracs would have done better offroad.

If youre at 35 psi, inflating them more wont make them any more quiet. They will just ride very stiff.

I completely agree the the 285's are a more practicle tire especially since i dont off road. Problem is i dont have a lift and dont really want to lift. I havent been able to find much info on "subtle" lift options. Seems like minimum of 2" or bust.

What upgrades to the suspension did you go with in order to fit the 285s?

You can do the chalk test to help set air pressure.

I'm running my 265/75/16C duratracs between 32 and 40 psi on the road depending on if I'm towing or carrying extra cargo.

They are louder than stock street tires but that's to be expected with the aggressive tread. The noise doesn't bother me, I just turn on the radio to drown it out.

No. Sorry to say, but they are going to get very loud. I had duratracs prior to what I have now. The duratracs start with a hum, and will eventually be very loud. They will sound similar to mud tires, just not quite as loud.

You think duratracs are loud? They are pretty tame noise wise compared to some of the other all terrains out there

My truck is a baja version so I believe its 1.75" front and stock rear(equal to TSB spring). Also, it helps to have the factory 7.5" wide TRD wheels with a perfect offset. No need for CMC with this width and offset. If you go 285, prepare for a loss in power and gas mileage. To me, the tradeoff was worth the look.

To me they are. But, I also removed my factory TRD exhaust and installed a stock one to bring the noise level down. I am sure there are louder tires out there. But, the Nitto Terra grapplers I now have, and the BFG ATs on my 2004 4runner are much quieter.

I have about 30K on mine and they definitely get louder as they wear. It's not so loud that it bothers me though. Great in snow and off road but two of them can't be balanced correctly so when they are on the front I get vibes at hwy speeds.

You have to have them balanced on a road force balance machine. It will solve your balance problems. You can find local places that use roadforce on the roadforce website

Take them to another place then your place sucks. I'm on my 4th set of duratracs and have never had a single vibration at any speed

I had duratracs and had them road force balanced at different shops and they never balanced. Its quite common for duratracs to not balance. Just google it.
