Seemed like a good review until he mentioned "the tacoma and colorado long term reliability are essentially the same" Okay dude, call me when toyota has a stop sale because the engine WON'T STOP CATCHING FIRE!

If it were available a year ago... it would've been tested. I'd like to test drive one, but the closest one is nowhere close where I feel like driving to.. Toyota sure isn't stepping up their game.

Woah. I didnt even see that, had to go back and dig through the comment section to read that.

Reviewer/OP used to drive a Hummer H3t, all credibility is lost.

I could see it competing with the Turd gens, but the 2nd gens are in a different league

My experience with the truck so far has been 'meh.' So many shortcomings, lacking options, lacking this or that. 4runners and Tundras have tons of upgrades but Taco was like a Kawasaki KLR that was the same from like 1987-2004 IMO.... Toyota just let it simmer for so long to let it get outdated. And the groundbreaking, all new 3rd gen is just a slap in the face... being not groundbreaking or all new.

I drove it. The diesel is an awful, slow, waste of money. $47.5K on our lot. $4-5K more than the trd pro.

I guess i'm just looking at the vehicle in terms of Potential, not necessarily from-factory capabilities.

Exactly. Outdated, under powered, over priced, all while getting mpg less than a full size. 1st gen has been the only truly good one since the 22R, but the 3rd gen is still a "decent" improvement over the last. Especially when it comes to tech/interior.

Toyota has dropped the ball with midsize because they knew they could get away with it. Hopefully that won't be the case anymore.

Yeah, Taco definitely has potential, but thats what comes with time and aftermarket support. I guess its a good thing that its stayed the same for so long, parts are easy to interchange. Its just seeing what the rest of the world is blessed with from the same manufacturer, and we get the crap. I know its not exactly their choice...

    Yup. I'd still like a 1st gen or a 3rd gen 4runner.

Bad part is even if they do realize that now, and had the go ahead to pull their heads out of their asses, it'll take 4+ years to see the results on the road.

The funny thing is people discount domestics, rightfully so in some/many cases, but at least they try to appeal/appease the clientele with crazy/special production cars. A 707hp Charger, or Jeep SUV. Even the SRT4 piece of shit neon... at least they try.

Yeah, there is the TRD Pro, which looks ok, but nothing special that I've seen.

In the end, it seems that Toyota is OK with producing a mediocre product since it sells.
