Eh. My place isn't far enough south. It's outside of meeteetse. Sprayed there today. Was super gorgeous. Wouldn't be wheeling really. But there is a whole abandoned town with mine shafts in the valley. Super cool. Colors of trees was amazing

Got both ham radios in Igor now. Aprs rig tuned to 1.3 and 5100 to 1.2. Solid aprs should work better then ever, dad learned how to tune the TNC so it broadcasts better.

Still need to swap the cb over.

 

I see the pictures of your trails and campsites and it makes me hate western TN a bit more. If I get to WY or MT, I might not leave.

Indeed, focusing on elk but I have a general deer tag too. Had a few opportunities and blew it. Going out Thursday night for the last bit of archery season. Haven't decided if I'll hunt rifle or not.

What are you (or maybe its your dad) doing to tune your hams?

 

Has a bad ass antenna tuner. You can only cut the antena or move it up in the mount. Same as a cb. Sorta.

 

So not the typical SWR meter eh? Yeah, no tunable tip on these antennas.

 

The TNC does broadcast. Sorta. It sends tones to the radio. The radio is more of an amplifier on a frequency.

You can tune the width of the signal, aka the deviation. You need a scope though. Usually it's around 1Khz. We upped them to 3 as recommended by a friend here. Allows the broadcasted signal to be seen much better. Overall improving chances of pinging.

No. He got it with about 1000 other things from some dead grandpas basement for cheap. Thing is worth 400 bucks.

Generates it's own load and meassures it and signal. Can do a huge freq spectrum.
