It would have been nice if Toyota had thought more about the off-road crowd when they designed their wheel wells. I wish I didn't have to hack apart my truck just to clear a 33. I used to have an F150 that didn't even have a leveling kit and cleared my 285/75r16 GY Duratracs with room to spare:annoyed:

It's the same answer as is with every 285 tire. You need a 3 inch lift with trimming in the fenders and the cab mount usually. There's a search button

that's how some of us got here........

Not the same as every 285 tire. A wise man once told me that it's far better to lurk and seem ignorant than to post and remove all doubt

All good, I'm learning from these folks and taking a little risk without fear. I will get there one day after trial and error if nothing else.

No. Not the same size. You're thinking of a 285/70r17. There's not many people here running 285/75r17 tires which are a 34" diameter.

Actually I was thinking on a 16 inch rim. Anyways I'm not going to argue. This question has been beat with the fugly stick until it stopped breathing and yet still people find a way to not find the answer they need in the 4000 other posts just like this one. Have a good day:hattip:

A 285/75r17 is still an inch taller than a 285/75r16.

 You are talking about sidewall right.

Also note not every tire manufacture is the same size, even though they have the same numbers stamped on the side.

Sidewall height is the same but overall tire is 1" taller with the 17" wheel.

Specs on the Toyo ATII 75r17 (extreme) vs the 75r16 is 32.8 vs 33.9

Toyo starts the E rated extreme in the 34. It has more tread depth over the non.

The MT is 34.1 inflated diameter.

This is just Toyo listed specs

False. 285/75r16. 285/70r17. 285/65r18. These tires are all the same size. A larger rim combined with a smaller aspect ratio will achieve the same overall height as a smaller rim with a larger aspect ratio. So if two tires have the same section width and aspect ratio, but one is for a larger rim, the one for the larger rim will be a taller tire. Do you get it yet?
