True. I just want the damn thing fixed though. I have done work with the body shop whom did the repairs. They actualled colored matched my off-road fenders to my paint, they did a good job. I would expect no less with the new hood adhesive.

I pick it up today, I'll post pics this afternoon

You could have spent a weekend and fixed it yourself:
    • Friday - Saturday : NVH setup and cure 24-48 hours
    • Sunday : Touch it up with some OEM color Toyota paint pens
    • Monday : Drive it to work
    Done deal.

That looks like they put some spray foam insulation shit where ever was most convenient for them. Didn't even bother to paint it either...

Should I just go directly to the body shop and see if they can fix it? The guy who did it painted my fender flares and did a hell of a better job on those than on this.

Unless your hood is slapping at you really bad, I would take Smitty's advice and wait for an official fix.

the hood adhesive thing is pretty minor fix in the right hands... they never gonna have an official fix IMO . here in hawaii SERVCO Pacific runs all the toyota sales and much much more ....they have good resources...
thanks to TW i found out mine had problem.... Servco had it fixed at a body shop. after some good attention at the body shop , no problem .. better then new. that adhesive not coming off now thats for sure. no vibration.

im not sure. but , they put adhesive basicily ALL around the whole seems. not just small patches here and there.... maybe they didnt put enough of the adhesive on before thats why it came off..? idk ... im gonna go take a closer look today and try take a pic.... but no way this hood gonna vibrate now. looks clean and factory. im lucky in some ways that SERVCO here in hawaii is a HUGE business and i know they have many good resources at hand.... so i trust they gonna come though legit and they did.... i realized i know one of the service advisors from surfing and hes cool so next time im gonna go straight to him when i need advice!!!

    ^^^ This ^^^ 100%
+ Toyota has known about this for 10 years or more. They won't do a TSB for this. It's open to conjecture why they keep relying on a process that is problematic for so many owners.

A lot longer than 10 years. I bought a new Toyota truck in 1991 and complained about the hood vibrating. The guy at the dealership punched it a few times on the framework and said, "it's fixed." Never thought about it again.

If the hood on my new truck starts fluttering, I'll probably try punching it first before I spooge it up.

    Hah

I didn't punch the frame and it was over 20 years ago. The guy at the body shop just hit the internal support of the hood a few times with the heel of his hand. Said that they do it all the time on Toyota trucks.

    Caveats:
-This was on a 1990 Hilux, not a Tacoma (although the hood looks very similar)
-I did not personally do this, but did witness it done on my own truck.
-Try at your own risk. :)
