Well get a real gps setup like BCN and you'll always know where you are and you can throw the paper maps away while you're at it haha APRS is not supposed to be a Nav tool in that regard. Why I just am going to run both. Same as Mike.

You don't need a lot of power period for APRS. So that point is mute. Remember power is logarithmic here. To have any major improvement power wise, you need to do add a LOT of power to make it worth it. Most repeater towers are only 15-25w with 100mile ranges. Its all about using the power efficiently via the antenna. Which is MUCH more important then power.

Im not freaking out. You and mike are the ones wanting to see each other at all times. Which i find hilarious because that never mattered until now. Why does APRS change that is my point. It shouldn't and doesn't. So why bother jamming up the area with your data. Especially if all three of us are in the same area. Then it becomes an actually problem because the strongest packet always wins. So if your radio is hitting the nearest igate better then mike and I's then mike and I will barely make it through to the igate because your packets are winning over us. Make sense? Same goes for seeing mike or i in "real time". You won't because if Mike is closer then me and we broadcast near the same time, Mike will win. And you won't see me anyways.

You don't see the evidence even though is pretty straight forward. Its just being courteous to others whether or not there are there. Right now as it is, you are using aprs for something you shouldn't be(main nav) and assuming no one else is using the air space. Its just rude and arrogant.

But..that practically describes you so.. haha

Sorry man, it's for 1.66"OD (sched 40 pipe), but you can use 1.625"OD (1 5/8" DOM) which works just fine in it.
