yeah that's true. i'm going to attempt myself hopefully i can pull it off.

 

It def isn't difficult. It just takes time. I was quite scared to break one knowing what it costs to replace them. Might be worth swapping out and paying 150-200 bucks

 

well I am eager to see the finished product. Let me know what you're thinking price wise because I may be down for a swap and some cash.

Just making sure haha. pretty sure home depot has something that'll work.

 

I'm sure they do..butyl rubber is butyl rubber. But the "retorubber" has never failed me, and is the perfect width to fit in the headlight channel. The pros use it, and it's cheap.

I actually think that was the hardest part. That original sealant is satan's snot. Did you carve it out dry, or heat it up?

11. Many factors involved. Heat, pressure, cost to replace if you break one. There are so many people with an opinion on the best way and there really isn't a best way. You're going to bend some plastic. And getting them apart was the first of many struggles. Removing the sealant literally took hours and hours to do. I have two sets. One for me and one for sale and I'm DONE!

Have you re-sealed them yet? I have tried various methods; wrapping ties around them, weights on top, etc.
The best way I have found to apply constant and even(important!)pressure is a few dozen of these guys;

while the housing is hot, clip these around the perimeter and put the screws back in.

 

On it! How many would you recommend? I have 5

 

Not all spots will accept the clamps(weird angles/surfaces). IIRC, I got about ~8-10 on per light. At $.99, VS having to re-do it all over... I didn't want to take any chances. So far, so good.
