2nd Gen TRD Sport Specs and SR5 inclusions? Suspicious car.com posting

Hey all,

Current Prerunner owner looking to upgrade to 4WD. Came across the link below and am seeing a few red flags. Did this guy just slap a TRD sport sticker on an crew cab long bed or is this just a TRD sport with a different hood?

Are all TRD models SR5? This one is not an SR5 and has no bells and whistles. Been looking through threads and cannot get a clear distinction of what comes with a TRD sport aside from the mechanicals. Any help is much appreciated.

That's not a Sport, take some pics of all the shocks and underneath

 

Checking it out tomorrow. I'll post pics after. Did they make a non-SR5 TRD?

 

Seems like an SR5 with the black bezel on the dash for the 4x4 knob. OR wheels and just the stickers for the sport. Plus where is the switch for the fog lights? could this mean somebody add them to it after, I taught all of the 2nd gen had them on the left side above the traction control.

 

100% SR5

- steering wheel
- 16" wheels
- no hood scoop
- no colour keyed grill, fender flares or mirrors
- HVAC controls
- No smoked headlights

 

No packets on the back of the front seats.

 

My sr5 came with matching flares. And hvac controlz.

 

I'm almost positive its the wrong style decal too, 2014+ style.

 

Get a carfax. My guess is it has been wrecked and had the bed pulled from another truck.

 

It has the LED tail lights. Not sure which year those started.

 

Who needs a carfax if he replaced the bedsides himeself.

 

Whoever did that probably just like those stickers and found some take off rims. the bed not necessarily had to be damaged or wreck.

 

It definitely doesn't look like a TRD Sport. The SR5 and OR use the same 16" rims while the TRD sport had 17" rims of a completely different style. I'm also not seeing the power inverter switch for the bed's AC outlet.

If you run the VIN through a decoder what does it come up with?

OP, if your gut is telling you there are red flags go with your instinct.

 

Car fax is not reliable. If you think it's not, pass.

 

It's not an SR5.

SR5 included color matched fender flares as a standard item.

My guess, it's a base model truck with parts from whatever he got for cheap.

 

No fog light switch in OEM location.

Base model front grill.

It DOES have the SR5 fold flat passenger seat..

But the rest makes little sense.

It's definitely not a TRD Sport, that much is sure.
